These are the cold hard fact. Anyone who rides MTB would love to do the Epic. Some of us tell ourselves its to expensive (its not cheap but nothing worthwhile in life is cheap and people can make a plan by saving R1500 odd a month for a year), some say training takes up to much time ( this is the hardest part of the epic, you really need to put in the prep). Some say the route is boring (no matter how u cut it riding for 8 days thru the Western Cape mountains will be anything but boring. So when all is said and done there are two types of MTBers in this world those that have ridden the epic and those that wish to ride it someday.

Agreed and when i hit a rock that was not cleared off the track and the organisers dont catch me before i fall i will most certainly not ride an event like this

Damn from what i have read sounds like this is the race/ ride for me most certainly will enter next year. Just have one question to the singletrack dowhill junkies out there of which i am. I hate races of late as unfortunatly MTB has grown so much that the traffic on ST especially tech areas are so bad that most races everyone is walking and pushing the sections i love to ride. Im kuk on the climbs so i always get caught by fatser riders on climbs then they hold me up on the DH sections. So at the Berg n Bush was their a lot of traffic on the tech downhill ST runs or did you guys have free track to blitz the trails?

The frame looks like its based/copied on a sepz epic s works? I have the hardtail chinese frame and i am loving mine i have also ridden it hard over last few mths with no issues at all. So it looks like the Chinese Carbon is just fine.

Mamba is awesome dont know what Omega man is carrying on about , in the begining a bit of pedalling is required then ii just rips. As far as dwindling numbers in tokai i wish that was true, the place in the last year or so was overun so much that i wouldnt go on weekends. Im actually enjoying it more these days keep up the good work guys.

How much climbing has the 57km got ?

Did teh Arabella Challenge this weekend , my first "race" since i started LCHF. Day 1 after 3 .45 hrs and 1280m climbing i consumed nothing but maybe a bottle of water and half a banana. Finished strong and felt great. Next day had eggs and sausages for breakies did 2h45 on half a bottle of water and approx 1200m climbing didnt eat a thing felt great. So far so good.

Wow doesnt sound like the peeps had a good time, good to know as i was planning on riding next year looks like i will do another stage race, the Dr Evil this weekend could be a good bet

Giant has more bang for buck, but the Spez is highly rated to. I guess you should ride both and see.
