  1. the little hamster inside is telling it so!
  2. - you were going way too fast! lost you even before mnet - not a chance of catching up. it would appear that i am more of a pack animal than a loner.
  3. really don't know as much as bruce / bikemax on the subject, but i have been doing a fair amount of reading on powermeters as i want to be well informed before i put my money down. i really cant see how the iBike can be equal to the ergomo / srm / powertap. there is just way to many variables to consider. what happens when you go on a long downhill for example? your normal polar HR monitor will still register your HR as high because of your heartrate lag after the big climb, the ergomo / srm / powertap should not register any power because you are not doing any pedaling so you are in true fact not doing any work, the iBike will for sure register some impressive power as you are now going @ 80 - 90 km/h! i think that with the iBike you will only be toying with the idea of power training, but with the others you will be doing it seriously.
  4. dirt-rider - plse lets not go down this road again. as for shops with great service - morningside cycles, cycletech (was there just yesterday & got an hours worth of advice / chatting without having spent a cent!) & you can get sidi's at slipstream. don't waste your time going to the shops where the guys who work there dont race.
  5. sure thing - you went like hell for the first 10km!!!
  6. 31-32km/h my gat! either that powermeter of yours is on the blink or I am really unfit & my polar is shot! ended up going with etienne from DD & some short guy in phonac kit riding am classics wheels - think it was pantani? pantani - did you guys take a different route - last is saw you guys was just after the turn into ontdekkers and then gone?
  7. rabubi - are you sure you are not losing muscle?
  8. just did about 45mins. & it is great fun! far better than the standard indoor trainer. very sure this is going to help my balance a lot - espesially sitting in the gutter with about 2mm of tar between me & the gravel (like a damn magnet!) took me about 10mins to get the hang of it. riding in the doorway really helps & as epoh said - concentrate on something in front of you. can now move hands to center, from center to levers, levers to drops etc. found that shifting from small to big ring really messes with my balance. very nice for spinning & still easy to get the HR to 75% +. managed max speed of 47km/h & then got a bit scared. only threw the bike off once! tomorrow night i will try and use the waterbottel & see if i can stay upright going one-handed.
  9. will join you then (maybe) - andrew was not there this morning, so ride was nice & easy!
  10. ta epoh - i will wear my helmet just in case!
  11. worked out OK for me - ended up doing two 34.5km/h rides in two days & ended up missing thursday in any case. PM me if you intend to "go long" again so i can come prepared with racing wheels / energy gels / cytomax etc! i will try and keep up with you & the mis-calibrated toy. read about the DBN / Umhlanga ride in the bicycling magazine - either this month's or the previous.
  12. this is the same thing you said last wednesday & then the average was 35km/h until you turned off - you have to check the calibration on that ergomo! the women & children were still complaining about the pace on friday! i heard about some ride that starts in DBN at the location of some old restaurant - The Cattleman I think. Supposedly this ride goes from DBN beachfront to Umhlanga & back. if you there till about mid Jan there is a crit around the gateway shopping complex as well.
  13. ok - this bunny hopping thing sounded way cool so i went out and got myself a set of rollers seeing that everyone else around here is getting some lekker new toys for themselves. any advice so i don't end the coming season prematurely with a broken collarbone or wrist? (and yes - i know about the placing of the rollers in a doorway)
  14. i own two cervelo's and did not crack an invite! anyhow - overheard some guy (on a SLC in CSC kit) talking about the goings on of the week-end & it sounds like a good time was had by all. yep - if you have the money to spend, why not? apparently when you are on your deathbed you don't complain about the things you have done, but about the things you have not done!
  15. father christmas in TCS kit? (sorry - couldn't resist some infantile humour!)
  16. bruce - how does the new bike go? missing the cervelo yet?
  17. what is it with these benoni world champs rides?
  18. ... and he is taking cytomax!
  19. excellent - so now i know that people who write letters to magazines really do exist and they do win prizes! how about a follow up letter showing that they still do not wear helmets - i think you can get a pair of rudy's now.
  20. nice pics shade.
  21. what are you doing saturday morning @ 06:00?
