  1. Agreed - well done in tough conditions
  2. DR - you have a point - but remember the organisers will not know where to make improvements if they do not get any feedback from the people who actually do the race.
  3. Baie Sukkel - have you taken these issues up with the organisers. If is was a sanctioned triathlon how about dropping TSA a email.
  4. Have used Cytomax both for cycling (epic) and running (comrades) and have had no problems with the product once I worked out the right mix as for price - buy it directly from Kieth in PE (Alida posted his email) and it the powder works out cheaper than the concentrated energade and at R9 per gulp n go.
  5. Watch out for Alida as well
  6. popeye - suggest that you use a gobi rather than the arione - the arione is primarily used as a triathlon saddle hence the length of it. should not need to "ride it in" either
  7. and who remembers the the last 10k uphill slog into megawatt park
  8. IvenS - to get to the beachfront you need to come downhill out of D/North or the Berea area so a least you have a uphill on the way home. Was up in Richards bay last week and did the 5am ride with the boys up there - pure speed work with 100m ascent in 35km - now that is flatter than a pancake
  9. Hawk 1. Get in some long back to back training rides on your MTB. As long as youhav spent enough time in the saddle training you should be able to complete the distance comfortably. 2. Look after your butt. Assos chamios cream worked wonders for me (i know it is pricey but it's a small cost in the greater scheme of things). 3. Eat and drink properly. Early and often. 4. Protien shake after each day's ride. 5. Massage - at least every second day - more if you can afford it. 6. Most important of all - enjoy it with your buddy.
  10. Doctor - agree with Bruces last comment. Will be doing Southbroom to Wild Coast Sun/return tomorrow moring. Normally start at 6 and don't have any traffic problems. +- 60km's. Try and avoidgetting on the tollroad if you are at hibberdene. Rather go down the old road to Port Shepstone and head down to Shelly Beach and then return the same way. Also about 60km's. Trucks also should not be a problem as they tend to stay on the toll road as far as Shepstone and the head inland. Avoid the toll road between Shepstone and Southbroom. Car traffic is as bad as the trucks because the verge/yellow line becomes an actual traffic lane on the hills.
  11. Crux - thanks for the number - the dude has obviously changed his number since it was printed on your stand - cos that number get a little old lady in Cape town who has no clue what a bike stand is!
  12. more likely "Clean Dee"
  13. Bought them at 94.7 Expo last year' date=' but they were at the 94.7 Expo this year as well This Cell No is printed on the Stand - 082 412 5407[/quote'] . Thanks Crux
  14. . Ordered this week - collecting on Saturday
  15. Crux - where did you get your bike stand - saw them at the Shova expo but have not been able to track them down since.
  16. 2 very different profiles and the one Marius posted starts at an altitude of 300m

    Polar Oddity

Are you sure you weren't wearing a "bug" somewhere
  18. Waht about the shova Robbie Hunter's winning time 2:23 for 106km - avge 44.4 ascent 1165m
  19. very nice
  20. Saw it in Durban - Primary focus of the show is how the brain functions in a cyclist. The IMAX camera certainly gives one a true perspective wrt the size and steepness of the Alps and the Pyranees (sp). Worth watching
  21. Daemon - please keep me updated on the ride. I won't be able to join you but plan on doing JHB to Durban next year so I will want to pick your brains on the logistics.
