TNT1 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) For those of you that dont know - allistair is currently in ICU he underwent a huge operation last night on his brain to reduce swelling from a head injury. He was on a training ride yesterday morning with carmen cresswel when his bicycle slipped out from underneath him on a gravel patch. He sustained serious head injury and is at this very moment fighting to stay with us - he is in a coma and is not concious. Please all we can do is pray. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers - he knows he is loved and he is fighting a huge battle to come back to us all....i will keep you all updated. Please pray because that is all we are able to do at this moment!! TNT1 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 i always wonder how much protection roadie lids really offer, ie what's the design basis for the shape and size of those roadie lids, considering the sick speeds they can generate.. *shudder* He was on a mtb, off road, and going quite slowly at the time from what I hear.
Frosty Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 From what I've heard it's a freak accident, he hit the back of his head resulting in blood clots. He's on a ventilator and prospects are not looking good - I hope the doctors might be wrong

My parents were at the hospital last night, they tell me it does not look good.

They were called to the hospital early this morning because Allistair'sblood pressure dropped. The doctors have basically said the family must decide if they would like todonate his organs. They (drs) have agreed to run another batch of tests to see if there is any brain reaction, but they don't hold out any hope. So so sad! Am waiting for Derek, he was going to the hospital now, when I hear something, I'll let you know. Edited March 11, 2011 by TNT1
