This was this morning after its first 12km. Had a few bugs that I sorted out on my way to the office, and must say it is hard work getting up some of the hills. And going downhill is scary, but fun

Yes, I know this isn't going to be everybody's 'cup of tea', and I'm sure I'm going to get lots of comments about why I did this or that.

I've actually thought long and hard about if it was even worth posting pics, just to get ripped apart by someone who thinks they have better taste.

Be that as it may, this is my latest ss project that I completed a couple of weeks ago.

This is a great build .... Mine will be done in a couple of weeks hopefully ... A 1989 Bianchi.

 

What was the total bulild cost .... I am seeing my cost going past where i like ... And i wanted to get a pro spray job too.

 

Can i ask a couple of questions.

What brake lever is that , i like the oddesey ones but dont think theyre available here.

Do you know which supplier sells bull horn bars ?

So after finally getting my fork I dove into the bike cupboard where i was collecting all my goodies for the SS build.

 

Low and behold I cannot find one of my chaintugs. i turned the whole room upside down, and it's nowhere to be found.

 

Any hubbers that has a spare chaintug for inbred laying about?

I have only one on mine, but I do have a bolt-on hub. If you're using a QR, one tug will be fine, but use a good QR skewer like Shimano, not a cheapie.

But isnt it better to have two?

 

I know I can get along without it...but I would prefer to have two.

I'm a weight weenie so only been running one Chain tug on my Drive-side for the last 4 years and never ever had an issue.

the weight saving was huge: went from 12346g down to 12313g. Makes a huge difference on the climbs. haha.

 

No seriously only used the one for years and no problems.

Hope this is the right thread for this question. I have a 26"er that has been gathering dust in my garage for some time. I am on a very tight budget to get this bike going as my first single speed.

 

I'm removing paint and leaving the bike and all bits I can as plain polished aluminium and using as many parts as I can from the original bike (cost issue).

 

My question is, not needing gears, I'm stuck with a lot of cable guides that were there for the gear cables. Is it going to be a problem if I just cut them off and sand smooth or is there something I'm missing?

 

This is my first project of this nature so I'm going in a bit blind here, any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cut em off but know the bike will never run gears again.

Say hello to my new steel 29er frame, hopefully getting it next week :clap:

 

The only problem at this moment is if I'm going to run it rigid or not....

Rigid. Problem solved.
