Here's a few photos of before and almost done and some in between. She's my first road bike ever. Just saving up for decals and final clear coat. post-47764-0-50726800-1425547010_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-11508300-1425547044_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-13294800-1425547061_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-56460400-1425547076_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-37214000-1425547115_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-89791400-1425547127_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-13906400-1425547147_thumb.jpgpost-47764-0-82102500-1425547159_thumb.jpg

Very Nice Soapbox.

Been toying with a roadbike commuter for thos days I want to ride to work.

(my precious mtb tyres does not last on the tar) and with the roadbike, comes better gearing...

but no funds for even cheap frames and parts at the moment...

After spending 2 weeks on my 1x10, I finally sorted out my SS's noisy drivetrain and headset last night.

WOW the SS is smooth, quiet and with no sloppy drivetrain or suspension, gets the power down so much better. 33x17 for a 21km, 370m ascent commute to work.

Very nice Soapbox, as I have said before that's how Single Speeds should be built, road or MTB, not bought with bespoke components from your finest LBS  :whistling:

Thank you, it's been a great journey. She was bought it from a farm worker in Limpopo who received it as a gift from his employer when he sold the farm to move to the coast. Paid a whole R900 for it. She'd been used as a commuter on farm roads for 8 years.

I've only spent on paint stripper, paint, re-chrome fork, SS sprocket and spacers, fresh bearings and cables. Oh and bar tape. Still to come is decals, probably be sourced here on Lehub and then k2 clear coat(think that's the right name)

That's just it some fresh new parts for sure (I am not immune to that feeling) but a complete SS built from new by the LBS just makes me feel like it's just another bike.

You go to the wrong LBS...

Damn Flippa I don't know about you but that up in the fire station at Thaba (the one with the little bump just before you go up) is my nemesis. I have gotten up there when I had a 32*20 but with the 32*18 I have now I get about 3/4's of the way up  :cursing:

That one's a 50/50 for me. Some days I get all the way, and others only 3/4. That's on 32x18.

I find it helps if I make lots of embarrassing grunting noises.
