Thor Buttox Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Hitting the bushes or trees can be painful but you might land on some lovely sand. Landing on the point of the bar-ends will be painful. I know.
CatGirl Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 VERY UNCOOL !! bla bla bla...different strokes for different folks ne!
Stevief Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 fricken hell, even a discussion on this? I dont give a **** if you think bar ends is cool or uncool. What qualification do you need to decide if something is cool or uncool? Its like me telling you that white mtb shoes is uncool?White shoes are extremely uncool. bar ends are great when climbing and suck when going on tight singletrack, they should invent some that can just click off when u done with the climb, then put them in your shirt pocket when the next climb comes click them back on.
AndreZA Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 You need a kick in the nuts if your bar ends stand up like that. They should basically be 90° to your brake levers as they should be 100% straight inline with your arm.
traaidmark Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 It's interesting to read about people's riding styles. It sounds like people use it when they climb and when they are hammering on flats. The past weekend I realised that I actually move my hands in closer and hold on to the brake lever clamps when I do either of those. Oddly, me too. When I had my barends, i used to use them for the above, but now I don't have them, I tend to do the same as you. lols.
The Drongo Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) Oh, so not this then?I just understood this to be Bar End Cool. But those sticky up things look interesting. So they are for capturing fences and poles and bushes and things hey?Do you do that with, like, a lassoo like? Edited April 12, 2011 by The Drongo

I'd have to be double jointed to achieve those angles. My break levers are very cranked over like on the motard. (edit, just wanted to through a "break" in there, don't really have anything to say.) Eddy Gordo Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I think these are better suited to the xc type rider. I used them for the same reasons, for hand pains. I have a pair that I used on 2 rides in Tokai. After the second ride I removed them after going straight into a tree as these bars tend to restrict me alot on the single track. I dont miss them one bit and I also dont have problems with pain in my hands. Also my fitness has improved since all the aches......
