He should hit them with his car, would have been cheaper.

It's probably your bloody cats that are setting the dogs off. Funny how cat owners think they can just let their cats wander around at all hours, and then get irate because dogs bark and chase the creature that's kaking and pissing in their territory. Cats should be kept indoors.

Is this aimed at me? I hate cats worse than I hate my neighbours dogs. There will never be a cat n my house, and the one that enters my yard will be shot at repeatedly unless my dogs catch it first.

I have 4 cats as well...and there is no way you keep a cat indoors....

If you think a Jack Russel can escape, watch a cat.

I am amazed at the tone of the responses to that story on the hub and how they contradict the responses on news24!!

I will choose to post my response here as i can only agree with the course of action taken by the cyclists.

I do feel sorry for the dog (not its fault) but the owner must pay and take responsibility.

PS The responses on news24 are ridiculous and short sighted. It is so easy to make such comments if it didn't happen to you.

1. you cannot control a cat, you can control a dog, keep yours inside, and when outside(on a walk) it should be on a leash(the law

requires that )!

2. cats are night creatures

3. dis gewoonlik die blerrie hond wat die kat jaag nie anders om nie!

My dogs like to eat cats. Not successfully done so yet though, but i know they would judging by the way they chased a neighbours cat one day. But when a cat comes onto their turf, s***s all over and gets chomped, then the owner moans? I have GSD's... GSD vs Kitty? If thinks not... :cursing:

I just wonder how many of them ever claimed on the old 3rd party system and got R25k for whiplash in a fender-bender ;)

3 Boerbulls at the farm where we used to live caught and mauled a cat (too distressing to rescue the cat and have it die in your hands), there were trees all over and these boerbulls were normally fat lazy dogs, but when they saw something to chase, well, it was game on!

When dogs do this i find a smack on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and a firm "bad boy" usually works on the owner.

Its the dog owners fault.

Ive seen plenty of jack russels that know how to behave, problem is most people just leave their dogs to run around in the yard and dont bother to train or socialise them properly.

I know its a bit over the top but here in the good ole Schweiz where dogs have much more presence in society (i.e. people take them with everywhere instead of leaving them at home), you have to take yourself and the hound for training.
