Burry's WCO XC fall

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Burry Stander supporter

However, it seems that even Burry struggled to get his 29er over the Rock Garden at the WCO XC and fell.

So stick with your 26er as 29ers won't make MTB easier, all the 26ers with Lefty's made it, well done Cannondale.

No man, a 29er just rolls over everything. Just ask anyone who has wasted their money bought one recently!

I was watching the race at the rock garden, and it is 10 times more hectic in real life, insane.

I do however think that, that was the only section on the course where a 29er actually had an advantage over the 26er, other than that the 29er guys sukkled like **** on the climb just after the start, Burry looked very uncomfortable on the climbs as did all the riders on clown bikes on Saturday. The results show that.

But more of a problem was Burry's gear choice, why these okes want to save a few grams and go 1X10 is beyond me! What turned out to be a huge cock-up, he broke his RD early on and lost 4 gears, 40% of his gearing! If he went 2X10 like most of the rest he would of been able to ride more climbs and not walk and possibly finish higher up the podium, on the firts climb he lost 4 places because he never had the gears to climb.

That all been said, it goes to show what an incredible athlete he is, he fell is gat off, had 6 gears and he still finished 11th, beating many world champs on route. Go Burry!!

The DH yesterday was insane and off the hook as well! Well done PMB!

He seemed to use a different line the time he came off - previously he was zipping around the RHS coming down (from the camera view) and the last time it was kinda center left. It must have also been fatigue - with that extraordinary effort he was putting in with the loss of gears. He did well and I dont think wheel size had anything to do with his back luck. btw, what was Suss-e riding?

So .... "dont believe the hype" and .... "never say die"

Im a big Burry fan as well, but if you look at the epic footage, Burry is the first to admit that the really technical stuff is not his forte, teams like the bulls and multivan meridia were more known as technical specialists.

Now dont go interpret the above as saying the man can't ride technical because he sure as hell can, but remember 2cm on the wrong line regardless if you have a 26" or 29" wheel and your buggered, even if your a MTB superhero. The bike can only componsate and safe your ass so much. if you make a mistake you purchase some land, thats the way of the beast.

Man he blixemed off that bike. Like Kosmo said, he took a different line, maybe the pressure of the chase. Schurter was flying down there and really made the legendary Absalon look ordinary. The recklessness of today's youth...

Watched the ladies DH on TV. Some of those girls are really fast and big. The one who was one the couch the longest even made her fat rolls wobble when she laughed, bad time for the camera man to zoom in.

I would have thought the answer was obvious. Burry's been on a 29er too long. By now it feels like a 26er to him. He needs to take his equipment to the next level. If he had been on a 32er he would have won the race. The rock garden would have felt like a mere patch of gravel. Guys, nothing rolls like a 32er!

yeah, but you have to use 32gi with it, or it's slower than a 26er...

Bloody 29er cost him the gold

I rate burry as one of the best technical riders in the world by far but i have to say that Schurter makes them all look like amateurs on the technical stuff
