It's much less complicated than that. Just find content you both enjoy, and watch whatever you want in your "own" time.

If a tv dictates one's life and relationship choices, that person has bigger problems.

i dont understand. do you people have tVs in th kitchen? how do your wives get to watch TV?

Or don't get upset if someone doesn't watch the same thing, but still wants to spend time in your company and whips out a book / magazine to read while the other half watches their thing.

My wife has a little story that she likes to tell, of how I was sitting, listening to music, while she was watching TV. She then proceeds to have a conversation with me, all the time thinking I'm agreeing with her, while I'm merrily bobbing my head to the beat of my music.

I was found out, when the matter discussed, of which I was "in agreement" at the time, came up, and all of a sudden I was in denial, of ever having the conversation before...

Sho, who dis?

That's an accident bound to happen, that what that is. No brakes, toe clips, fixie.... I fell off my chair just thinking about riding that.

Edit: Riding that bicycle, get your heads out the gutter. I heard it as I clicked post.

Mine managed to internalise some of her conversations. So she thought we'd had the conversation, but we never did.
