It is easy for photographers to love their own photos because we experience the process of creating the work on a much different level than the viewer.

This is one of those, I loveit!   ...  :P

I missed the rugby today for a family shoot... this was the first location.

Nice!

I went out yesterday for a shoot, looking for a spot like this but it seems like I am a couple of days too late.  Most trees I found started looking a bit naked.

Where is this?  Let me make a note for next year!

4th Street in Houghton... about 400m north of Old Eds sport club.

We were between two speed bumps, so keep out of the traffic was easy.

Family pics are on my IG feed http://www.instagram.com/geraldm24, which also included a visit to Delta Park - next to the newly built trails.

Awesome, thanks man!

I will definitely make a mission of this next year.  I heard there is an area in Pretoria somewhere with white Jackarandas ... have to find those too.  Somewhere close to Groenkloof I believe.

But dont ask me for directions.  I am a Capie that's only been here a couple of months

My wife says I should stop telling people we live in Jhb, we live in Pretoria.

Suppose that's a Capetonian thing ... anything further than Oudshoorn from CT is referred to as JHB. :whistling:

Panning shots are a hit and miss a lot of times ... but nailing two riders in one shot, pretty chuffed!

Calling this one ... "Chasing Dreams"

I love this pic. You perfectly captured the mood. Also great to see the motion not just in the landscape, but also in the wheels.

A pet peeve of mine is watching photos of moving objects with frozen moving parts. Helicopters, and anything with a prop / rotor is my absolute least favorite. Some really epic pics of the current Garden Route fires were spoilt by frozen chopper rotors.

Thank you!  I think I shot at 1/60th of a second there.

Elbows in, steady as can be, swinging from the hips!

I have to agree with you there.

With frozen rotors or props, it just looks like the plane or helicopter is falling out of the sky!

now THAT'S what I mean. Love it. I got a pic of the Westland Lynx back in 2008 at the AAD expo at Ysterplaat. I will try dig it up in the archives and post it. Also has some great morning sunlight glinting of the rotor disc.

If you have Google Earth (the desktop version), they have a date slider that you can see the aerial view at different times of the year. I used this to confirm the best possible spots that were traffic-friendly at the time of the year.

Click on the "clock" icon, the drag the slider (top left of pic) to a suitable date. Pretoria blooms earlier than Joburg due to the average temperature difference between the two cities.
