Weet iemand waar so iet beskikbaar is? (ek voel 30 minute is effe lank) Miskien verwag ek te veel want hulle was altyd my kar as ek hom laat diens. Nee Kerneels, ek gaan so elke 6 maande hospitaal toe vir `n diens dan bad hulle my sommer. Nee Kerneels, ek gaan so elke 6 maande hospitaal toe vir `n diens dan bad hulle my sommer.

Eldron Posted October 6, 2011 Share In my opinion the days of "conventional" bike servicing are over. How do you service a bike with sealed wheel bearings, sealed headset bearings and sealed BB bearings? Smear a thin line of luminous grease on the threads and charge the same as if they were all servicable ball bearings? I check the bike over with the owner, LISTEN to what he needs done, fix the issues and charge accordingly. Bike valet service takes time and I charge for time. +1 What exactly is the R500 for in a "service"? Everything on a bike these days is check and replace if needed. The most you can do if the sealed bearings are all fine is check the gears (mine haven't changed in 6 months), oil the chain (which any muppet can do) and give it a wipe (likewise anyone can do it). So what exactly do people pay bike shops for? Any components you buy comes with full installation instructions - invest in some tools and bob is your uncle. Scrap that - I'll service your bike for R500 - I'll even remove your insulation tape and Epic sticker...

Daar was 3 en hulle was elk so 15cm lank. Do you mean threads from the actual tyre casing? Edited October 6, 2011 by TNT1
Daar was 3 en hulle was elk so 15cm lank. I think the threads from your tyres on your spokes should be the least of your worries... might be a good idea to start shopping for new tryes!! MJ the Expat Posted October 6, 2011 Share Just on sealed cartridge bearings: You can service them in case of emergency. It is possible to lift the seal on the bearing, degrease then regrease and if you did not destroy/bend the seal, you can put it back and keep going. I do this as needed to prolong the life of the bearing.
