Oops, wrong thread. I thought bonking was something else.

The answer to your question is no.

your problem, you ran outa energy.

32gi is not wot a lot of people thought it to be

it on about the same as half apple juice half water.

on that 70km you should have had Jungle oats for breakfast

you should have taken a muffin with for the 30km mark

I think you're bonk was a combination of going out too fast, eating too little, and then it was exacernated by the coke that spiked your blood sugar and then it dropped and smacked you in the face.

Eat more. Eat more while training to get used to eating and digesting. I love eating stuff like biltong, boiled baby potatoes and even banana bread on the really long rides (I'm talking 6hrs+) even apples help.

My golden rule wrt coke is: at the last waterpoint fill a bottle halfway with coke and top up with water. Never drink more than 2 cups at a waterpoint. About 5km from the end start drinking the coke and water mix. Drink it continously. It will raise your bloodsugar, and by sipping it you can keep it high. I only do it at the end, as I know my sugar will crash in about 30min. So I need to be home and stuffing my face like a fat kid with free cupcakes.

Sounds like you run out of fuel there, man.

Solid food, even a small portion, or high-quality energy bar, at the 2.0 hr mark and onwards will go a long way.

I had a fine bonk on Saturday's training ride at the 95 km mark.

Did I miss some ice cold Coke to launch me above 9 km/h for 15 minutes.

More interested in finding out where he got the cherry coke.

Wwe've got a shop that sells all sorts of British stuff. The interesting part is that their canned cold drinks are the same price as the garages.

TNT just so you are aware 1 packet of 32Gi chews is equivalent to 2 bananas or 2 potatoes in calorie and sugar response, so he ate solid food.

Dude, I can't seem to figure you out? You seem to train and eat well and to understand things, but if I read your sentence above then I can't help but to discard all your other opinions?! That's only my opinion, but although the above might be "equivalent" in terms of calories, they are so far removed from equivalent as the moon from our earth. The dark side of the moon that is. Or I'm missing something big...
