Style of Chain tensioner i used

Not sure if these have been suggested before on another post... White Industries Eccentric rear hub. More expensive option to go as a retrofit, but if you're planning on new wheels anyway, then a worthwhile option.

 

Have no personal experience with them, but believe they are excellent.

Horizontal dropouts are not so cool, because you can't use quick releases,

Well you can, but they tend not to grip the frame as tightly as nuts, and the back wheel is prone to slipping forward.

Road or dirt? I started riding on horizontal dropouts (vertical one's weren't even a wet dream yet) and never ever had a wheel creep on me.

Dirt. And if your wheel did creep slightly, the derailleur would have taken up the slack in the chain

Did you get that chain guide locally or from CRC?

 

I feel the same gripes as you RE my SS and chainline and tension.

Unless you use tugs, but they again have a downside, changing a wheel is a mission...

CRC Bud, bought allot on my last order and added this to see if it would work and im pleased .

 

Racing the USN race on saterday so will give feed back after that.

Thanks Bud, will chop it once i know it will be 100% ( old frame so wont get a hanger again for it ) , racing it tomo so will see.
