You not the only one. I honestly thought they were playing for a draw with that long 2nd innings. This morning before play started, Cindy Poluta said Morne, Vern and KG were all nursing injuries so didn't want them to bowl much yesterday afternoon and get some serious physio time last night. Vern had a groin injury, didn't seem to bother him this morning.

Because that is the last thing the Aussies wanted. They most probably wanted to forfeit the last match, go home and be utterly miserable at home over Easter!

I consider myself most fortunate to have seen that spell. It really was remarkably brilliant bowling from Vern. Pretty much every delivery was in the "channel" and somewhere between a good to full length probing away at the batsmen's defenses and mindset. Aussies were at sixes and sevens. I almost felt sorry for them. Try and see if you can find a YouTube clip of it. It makes for amazing viewing.

i have to ask given the recent scandal within the aussie team: did vernon really exceptionally well (he always bowls well IMO), or did the aussie capitulate. From the highlights i've seen on supersport, the aussie batsmen made an inordinate number of irrational shots. Their batting suggested serious mental distraction.
