You know the entry fee and if you think you have a chance to get a podium, surely you would find out what the prize money is and base your decision to enter on that. No use crying over it after the fact.I will be there next year after being unable to go this year, regardless of the fee, its always a great adventure with loads of stories afterwards. The road up neverender was the deepest I have yet to dig to stay motivated and to carry on, and seeing J-bay lights after that last climb past the ruins almost had me emotional! I recon this event is definitely one of those must do "right of passage" trips for mountainbikers. majestic and taito 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had such heartburn after....I ended up pulling the whole way practically on energy & protein bars, bananas, a cup of tea, a cup of hot chocolate, 2 cokes, packet biscuits and my 32GI bottles....At checkpoint 5 I tried to push down a "chip roll" but so burned with the gastric acid I abandoned the idea.....But I guess when you've had bad luck en-route don't expect much to be left behind if you are behind.... .... deep down I was disappointed bout all that....the left overs...where they were.... Cacher Posted August 24, 2012 Share Wow, sad to hear about some of the guys missing out on the food, but I had my share at all of the points and only missed out on banannas at the one checkpoint, but the marshmallos were just fine as well. The Jaffels were a real "pick me pick" for my spirits in the dark hours of the night. @ Velouria : Lekka ride report. I wish I did not see so much darkness on my ride, but mabe riding at my slower pace, I managed to get more value for my money... :-) Well done, I take my helmet off more than once for you!! But seeing parts of the route, like the Bergplaas descent, the run into Hadleigh through the kloof and the majority of the Never Ender in the light make up for the missed snacks along the way - although those jaffels did smell darn good!
