Haha, I take it he was joking wanting to run SS front and rear. DHR it is then... Or Magic Mary.

I guess the lack emoji just ruined the punchline. You know the one.

Skollie. That's a bad idea.

Yes, yes of course.

But.

What if it isn't?

mmmmmmmmmhhhh?UslcROt.png

There really are only 3 options for the front aren't there.

At least from what Maxxis has on offer. DHF, DHR or HR.

Probably go DHF. They feel like home.

Anyways I'm on some really crappy tyres right now. They came with my wide lightnings and I thought I might as well give em a chance before writing them off. Plus new tyres are *** expensive. But... I've taken tumbles on each of my last couple rides. First I saw my ass on plumber, which wasn't too surprising. But then again on Eden jumpline and AGAIN the AM track off Tokai's DH1. Supposedly, trails I'm a little more versed in. Now that I have a fresh roastie over one that was busy healing. I'm just about ready to set these tyres on fire. Vittoria Morsa on the front. And Barzo at the back. What *** tyres these are. NEXT!

Hey. I'm not there where you are. I'm here where I am. The wonderfully muddy Kingdom of Belgium.

Ya he moved there after his sister blew up his planet

Side note it appears that maxxis are impossible to get at the moment everyone has no stock of the dhr or dhf 2.4 27.5 so I pulled the trigger on some e-thirteen rubber.... not cheap but then again maxxis ain't cheap either.

Will report back after kingdom enduro how they faired.

what about the Bontrager range? is the XR4 any good?

They came stock on my fuel ex. Pretty good tire. Nice and grippy on hard to loose dirt. Not ridden them in the wet so can't comment.

Not as puncture proof as maxxis though...

ok I also have a Fuel EX8 which came with 2 XR3. The rear one is on its last and I was thinking moving the front XR3 at the back and putting a XR4 in its place.

Do you reckon Maxxis offer better value?

I would reckon the maxxis are still better value as they offer superior traction. But you won`t be disappointed if you do go with the XR4 up front.

I have never since fallen so hard and nearly face planted as frequently as when I had Bontrager XR2 Team issue tyres (2.4 front 2.2 rear) on a Spez Stumpy I had - thosewhere really crap met 'n K. - a 2.1 Crossmark has more grip as a front tyre.

but the maxxis IS better - hard gamble with your front teeth

Nah, we don't need to do that. you do it all by yourself...

:P

BTW - I have a 2.35 up front. But it's a schwobbly, which, like WTB, understate their sizing by quite a bit.

Incidently - schwobbly's XC tyres have far less volume with at the same ratings as their beefier counterparts... Rara and Roro  have far smaller volume casings at 2.25 than typically a Nic and Hans etc.

:offtopic:

and now... back to AM tyres...
