After J2C.... Myself, Oompie & Rouxtjie have been tapering for this race. We cut down to 6 beers a day and no riding since

even if you took oompie's bike away you wouldnt stop him riding..

He'd jack the postmans bike just so he can get some miles and start strava on his phone to log it

As said, the Monster climb isn't that bad, it's the little climbs afterwards that cause much moaning.

2012 Profile:

Jinne, that profile looks SO much more chilled than the profile they've posted on the site, all squished up. was quite daunting, but now feeling a little better  How long before beer goes flat / warm if you empty it into your camelbak?

Hi guys!

Just wanted to get some advice. entered my first monster (75km) and looking forward to it alot. Just wanted to know, my front brake is a bit disfunctional, would I survive the descents without it?

How technical is the descents compared to local trails around Pta, i.e. Groenkloof etc?

In any event, have a good rest and see you all on race day!

Cheers

obviously referring to the shorter steep descents, not the one following the monster climb itself! would appreciate your advice!

I'd go get it checked if I were you, one always tends to push it a little bit in races, last thing you want is a broken something because of a faulty brake.

Shew any ride u should have it fixed for but yes the monster requires brakes not just for the hills but the rocks

You showed me what 6 and 7% was this past weekend, this is 8% mostly for almost 10km. Think I will be carrying my full 3l of fluids - and then fill with beer if available.
