That's not quite true I think. Have been looking the last couple months. Current special at macro for that type of combo is about R4500. Otherwise I would have gone for it :-)

I may be mistaken and it could be the 350Gb console but there is definately a combo at the moment going for R3499, including 2nd controller, GT5 and some other game too.

Anyway I was just trying to mention that Sony don't take kindly to people fiddling with the consoles and then trying to claim under warranty later on as I discovered my my PSP when it decided to stop working. I opened it up, couldn't see anything wrong so closed it and sent it in and they sent it back saying thanks for tampering, no exchange.

Jip probably was a 320GB PS3. Old stock they trying to get rid of, but I don't mind. Games perform the same, and we are scoring in the end.

Ja, the manufacturers don't take too kindly to people messing with their stuff. Guess they also looking for any reason not to replace the product.

Very cleverly done there. I use the HDD for storing series, movies, music, etc so the space helps.

Never understood the logic behind these 12Gb consoles personally. They're not that much cheaper surely. Your setup now set you back just over R3000 where a 500Gb console with an extra controller and 2 games goes for R3500odd at Game. Except you've voided your warranty by opening up the unit, I'm assuming you're not running it as an external drive obviously.

Just as a warning the latest PS updates are causing havoc in playing downloaded movies, etc. Got built in filters. Having to play a lot through my laptop nowadays.

I paid

R2299.00 (12gb slimline ps3, 2 dual shock controllers, 2 motion controllers, 1 motion camera and a mickey mouse game... for my daughter)

R649.00 (Seagate 500gb SATA Notebook HDD)

So under R3k (just got home and checked.

The side where the dvd/disc is inserted, there is the oval cover, you just slide it to the side and the HDD slot is located there. (supposed to get a HDD cradle to put HDD in, but i just slid it in and placed 2/3 old credit card type cards under it. It stays in one place son chance of moving)

So warranty I dont think is an issue. When powering up, the machine sees the new drive and transfers all your data and formats it to the PS format. Easy!!

Cool, Looks simple enough. Enjoy the gaming pleasure.

Mine is still a work in progress. but here are two pics just after we moved into our new house. Looking at the other caves, I need more bikes for sure.

Only addition from the pics is a tv and dvd player.
