I earn peanuts but I can genuinely say that my business running costs p/m sometimes go

slightly above that last vote knoppie up there.......

& to me that's not always a good thing!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was evaluating a tender the other day (dont ask) and as part they had to submit proof of municipal account or rental...these okes are dropping 300-400k a month on rental alone!

NOW I get why there's ppl that don't bat an eyelid dropping 40k + on a bicycle.

Agree though that the disparity isn't a true measure, someone just entering the job market will most likely be earning a lot less than someone who'd been around a while.

But to those earning 100k + a month, I need an bike upgrade  - donations accepted.

makes me think.....we should have a hub montly top-hat draw....everyone contributes a minimum of R50 or R100 into a pot and at the end of the month we draw from the hat and that lucky gal/girl get some cash towards their bike...stipulation being they have to spend it on their bike and post their purchase

Gross income is no indicator of spare cash to spend on bikes. That is better answered by the questions:

1. Are you married?

2. Do you have kids?

If the answer to 1 and 2 is yes, the answer is 'Shem.'

Forget are u married, married is cheap,,,try DIVORCE NOW WE TALKING REAL MONEY

Ok, main reason for this poll is to benchmark it to a similar poll on the 4x4 community forum. They showed a non-normal distribution which they attributed to 4x4 drivers being more well-off than the rest of the population. I disputed that saying that it is more likely that people are telling pork pies.

This poll also shows that exact same non-normal distribution.

What is the "normal" distribution that you are benchmarking against?

Both the polls you refer to are from specific forums.

Good question and your not alone in this world

Some interesting but useless info....

1:12 initiative, a swiss political party has proposed a restriction in salaries for managers etc... basically the top salary in a company should not exceed the lowest salary by more than a ration of 1:12

"The initiative, proposed by the youth section of the centre-left Social Democrats, stipulates that the salary of a company’s highest paid employee cannot be more than 12 times that of its lowest paid employee.

The initiative is seen as a reaction to widening social inequality, as well as the recent banking scandals and the general feeling that many people in high positions earn high salaries without making a special effort.

“No one should earn less in a year than top managers in the same company earn in a month,” the proponents claim"

sounds good but logistical nightmare.

considering the government are willing to pay 140 million on a website, any work that can get for government/municipalities, you can inflate your prices like mad. You just need to make sure you know the right people. Sad really.

I wish it was more. But I'm unemployed, so I dont have anything positive to contribute to the poll. But, if I look at my industry, I should be getting around 20k-ish.
