I rather think the Bran will be the one to 'ride' the 3rd dragon.. by warging with the dragon..

I have no quarrel with your disagreement. Nor is it my intention to try and persuade you. To put it in context, I feel exactly the same about Tolkien: Fantastic world-builder, boring writer.

I also could never get into Tolkiens books, I guess biggest part of the problem was that I saw the movies before I started reading it. Once the suspense of not knowing what is going to happen is taken away it was real hard to make the effort to wade through the boring parts.

Tried my best to as far as possible read the GoT books ahead of the TV series to avoid this happening again.

Don't quite agree on the "boring" but it does take a lot of effort to make sense of loads of  characters & countries and where everybody fits in. But the payoff was worth it imo.

Harry Potter - Could never be bothered, now I'm reading it for my son and can appreciate it more but still not really my thing.

Psst.. I know who can play Druss if they ever made a movie or series.

Now THERE'S a fantasy writer whose books could never be described as dull or overloaded with descriptions. Every year or so I still like to take down one of my tattered copies of Legend, Waylander or White Wolf and spend an afternoon with an old friend.

And yes, I can definitely see Momoa as Druss - especially when you look at him in this photo and compare him with his bodyguards.

David Gemmell was a legend...i remember staying up one night just to finish the one book in one sitting. Have ever tried "The King beyond the gate"..was one of the first Gemmell books i read and was the gateway to the rest for me. Another writer im currently enjoying is Brandon Sanderson -Stormlight Archive.

Both of them are very high on my list of all-time favourite fantasy authors.

I havent even watched Lord of the Rings....let alone read it...it is just something that doesn't interest me at all. don't really like fantasy stuff...but then we had a discussion in the office and someone asked me "well what about Star Wars...and Game of Thrones?"...I cant really answer that...but LOTR and the hobbit don't interest me one bit

What also makes GoT different to the normal fantasy stuff is that in the first few books/series there are hardly any magic at all, it's more like a medieval war story set in another world - all the magic/fantasy stuff gets gradually introduced and only now near the conclusion it is full on fantasy.

I accidentally saw some footage of the leaked episode of GoT.

lets just say WTF does not even begin to cover it. If you haven't seen it yet, you're in for an unpleasant surprise come Monday

Extremely pissed off at the Quora website, some either idiotic/sadistic morons  started asking questions on spoilers from the leaked episode - just as I congratulated myself on avoiding spoilers this season...

I made a decision not to watch any leaked episodes... beside not sure how the picture quality would be.. imagine watching episode 4 not in HD[emoji33] , if I watch it earlier then I have to wait longer for the following episode..

Raymond Feist was in Cape Town a few years back for a book festival, had my copy of Magician signed by him...

tbh his later books don't do it for me but his earlier works are brilliant!
