Is it 3km!!!! I thought it was like 600 metres. Hells bells!

I'm a little concerned over the portage too - especially the last bit which is quite steep with some big step ups

Don't stress about it, just take it easy, you know, one step at a time, and don't forget to look over your shoulder at the view.

That can also be used as a solid excuse for a little breather, especially if you take pictures and then pretend to hurry on!

Got mudguards with me. Booked a maintenance package. Packing SPD hiking boots as backup. 3k portage on slippery and muddy rocks on carbon soles doesn't seem like a great idea. All I am wondering about is throwing a hanger and rear der. in my Camelback. Mud = mechanicals. (Oh and I will fit Geax Seguaro tyres on Thurs when I get my bike). Overthinking much?

So another question to the guys who has done this event before or other mtb stage events, what would you take with from home that was not provided by the organisers?

I would think packing SPD hiking boots is overkill...

How long is the portage section actually? As I understand its more like 1km not 3km?

Someone who know the area better can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the serious muddy stuff would be on the Oak Valley side of the mountains, not on the Lourensford side & portage section (unless its raining on the day of course)

Yup, one bag only! The bag they give you should be big enough. Pack wisely...
