@Eldron, yeah, we parked inside the school premises in the parking area, my question exactly to the security guards that was standing right there when we got back to the car - empty lot. Nope, he/they never saw a thing, I think these dudes are only there to open and close the booms for people when they arrive, nothing more.

My niece came out of a nightclub in JHB once to find the security guard holding his torch up for the oke breaking into her car.

I wonder is car thieves are getting smarter in terms of dressing like athletes/spectators? I never saw any dodgy characters that day - certainly not anyone that arousaed my suspiscions.

Sorry for your loss - it's a *** feeling. Most of us have been there and done that....

Definitely targeting our cycling events. Had the my Bakkie jammed at recent event at Winter Fast One MTB event in Jhb.

Fortunately spotted them whilst jamming my vehicle.

Take care.

This is just crazy. Sorry to hear.

Colleague of mine got a new A3 delivered to his house, presses the central locking key and it opens his garage door. Presses the lock button and it locks the garage door. How is that even possible (no, that is not not one of the many extras you can order...).

strange,

how this is even possible, the audi remotes are a encrypted code, at a random (Car known frequency hopping sequence).

Most garages are totally different, no intelligence other than a Beep signal on frequency.

I hope you paid the "car guards" ....sweating so hard to "earn" their keep!!

It's about time these blokes also start taking responsibility for what they are supposed to do!!

It strange that when you park...they are nowhere to be found...but as soon as you leave...they crawl out of the woodwork!!

They stole my computer bag from my bakkie in Bloemfontein using the gate remote trick. When we went back after discovering the loss I actually saw the guard who I tipped run away.

What does Toyota say about their vehicles being stolen so easily and what alternatives or warnings do they offer? Has anybody ever questioned this?

They short out the small indicator which for some reason unlocks the doors. Then they pop the bonnet and swap out the ECU/PLD and put in a new one that corresponds to the key they have.

then start and drive off - in style, listening to your tunes.

Sucks

Rig it to play Justin Bieber at full volume, I'm sure they will abandon your car ASAP.

To those of you who don't want to take your key with you on rides, especially muddy or wet ones. Most surf shops sell water tight resealable heavy duty bags that are perfectly sized to fit a key. (Especially with all new cars having coded keys that are properly allergic to water) I leave mine in my car and every surf or cycle ride I drop my key in that! Works a charm!

Good point, it should be asked, but then again, will they do much? I now at least know why it is the top selling DC!

I had something similar with a neighbour's new A4. The day he got it, my garage door started opening and closing randomly. Freakin' weird.
