Same bike, same issue. Mine turned out to be the bushings on the main pivot in the middle. I first replaced my BB, because the noise appeared to be from pedalling. It turned out to be sideway forces on the pivot causing the noise and also the reason why the nosie wasnt there when I bounced on the suspension without pedalling.

Take off the back wheel, clean and lube the area around the drop-out and try again ? I had a similar creak, not the saddle, not the BB, not the pedals... drove me mad till bike mechanic located it !!

Had the same problem on my carbon HT. The Lab told me all carbon frames creek. Oh and all top end cranks have play on them. Anyway thats when i quickly got my bike out of there. Little bit of grease on the rear quick release and silence. Oh another place that can creek is if the cable guide/holders on the frame are metal sometimes the plastic/metal cable end creeks against the cable holder on the frame. Little Q20 solved it.

I had an issue on a hardtail. Replaced entire drivetrain, turned out to be i needed to grease around the point the QR meets the frame.

Give it a try might work

+1

Take the rear QR skewer out, apply a liberal amount of grease and put it back.

If any of the creaking bikes have pressfit BB's that could be the source of the noise, from what I have read. There's an article somewhere that shows how to install one properly. My 2c.

Oh, re Giant suspesnion pivots. My LBS recommended I spary a little lube onto every pivot bearing after a wet ride/wash to avoid corrosion in the bearings. Bike is still new but am interested to see if it does lead to longer bearing life...

Hmmm...interesting!

Any spesific lube? Definately NOT Q20...but what other "spary lube" would Hubland suggest?? Wynns teflon spray?

I know this post is as old but just want to add my 2c as well! :w00t:

My trans was having a creek and noise only on the left pedal going down and only when I sit and pedal. I also checked every single thing that I can think off that include the QR, seat post act. It only creek when a I sit and peddle...stand and peddle is quite as can be!

Long story short, I decided today is the day i will look for that noise as even my wife started to complain about the irritating noise she have to listen to.....and that is not even her bike!

Had a chat to friend and it he asked me about how many kilometers i did with the bike. Well I know it is just under 7000 and he then asked me if i ever replaced the suspension bearings wish i never did...... :whistling:

I took them out today and holy macaroni.....that bearings is shot! What even surprised me more....10 bearings just on the suspension!!!!!

Well I can see that this is exactly where my bike noise come from and will go search for bearings tomorrow!

Can anyone help. I have a 2012 Anthem X1 29er with a SHRAM X9 2x 10 crank set. The bike has developed a very irritating and constant creak / tick sound on every revolution of the right crank arm just as it gets between 15 and 20 past (on an analogy clock for visualization purposes). I have stripped the bike down, tightened bolds on the chain ring’s, cleaned all pivot bearing points and made sure they are lubed. In conjunction with my LBS we have changed pedals, shocks, crank sets and fitted a new chain. The bike even went back to Dragon Sports, but low and behold a week later the noise was back. It seems to disappear for a while when I ride in the wet, but then comes back after a couple of hours of dry riding and is particularly worse on the small chain ring.

Hope someone can advise as it is driving me and whoever rides next to me mad

Nobody mentioned the crank brand .My XT crank made the same noises .I put it on another bike and low and behold the noise followed the crank to the other bike .Nothing wrong with the crank .I just got used to it .The click gets worst when the power increases

Buy copper grease from your local spares shop. Remove your handlebars, stem and seat post. Clean everything properly and put copper grease. Even a little on the seat clamp bolt and seat post bolt. Works fantastic. Also helps to keep out water.
