Not sure if this has been answered yet? What is the last start group that will be targeting a sub 3?

Here's some quick Stats from last year, bearing in mind that the weather was quite Hot, hence the slower Wining times.

 

31 653 completed the Tour, with only 480 riders securing Sub 3's. And the lowest group in that 480 was "B"

Of the 480, there were ONLY 2 lucky souls from lower seeded groups that made it.

2:59 - "G"

2:59 - "L"

 

So if you thinking that your Seeded Group will carry you closer to that Ultimate SUB 3 barrier, then have a look at this!!

Note that it looks like the starting groups have been changed quite a lot, including smaller groups, therefore the groups and times of last year might not be relevant this year. Or perhaps since people have been moved down groups, the lower down groups could go faster.

Not chaos at all. I drive in from Rondebosch and just jump onto the freeway and go as you would normally to the stadium.

 

Stay at Kenilworth and either:

- Ride in

- Jump on the train

- Buy a ticket for parking @ the stadium and breeze in like JZ to the opening of Parliament.

 

Tell me more please. How, where from, when, how much?

The MiCiti buses were free to cyclists on the day.

Not a bad option if you coming from the milnerton/table view area....

With smaller groups up front, the quality of the rest of the bunches will be better this year, so if the weather is fine, we should see a lot more sub 3 this year.

any idea where i can get more info? staying in Melkbos and would prefer to take the bus to the start & back, but according to the time table the busses only start at 6h30

Is die verkeer oor die algemeen druk in die oggend op die N1 van die Noordelike Voorstede na die Stad op die dag van die resies? Is daar voldoende parkering in die stad wat van so 'n aard is dat ek maklik parkering sal bekom teen 07h30 - 08h00 omgewing of sal ek ook vroegoggend daar moet wees om parkering te verseker? Is daar iewers 'n lys van opsies wat benut kan word vir parkering byv parkeergarages ens.?}

I'm actually very interested in how this pans out. Would be nice to do that comparison of different times and finishers in each group in percentage terms last year (posted on a previous page on this thread) and then after this years Argus.

my understanding is that most of the parkades only open at 6am - i have a 6.38 start - any idea where to park from just after 5am?

park at century city, take an easy gentle ride into town to warm up and then ride back afterwards to cool down.

I am never in Hout Bay during the day in the week. Are there actually any working going on on Chapmans? Or have they decided to leave that last few turns a single lane and start with road works after the Argus?
