It's all relative, I'd say decide on a time you would like to finish. Well Either way you going to suffer. If you decide 8hours then you can take the first 60kms easy & hammer the balance but the heat will smash you. If you decide less than 8hours then you going to have to race it from the gun & the first half is going to be brutal & the remainder survival mode. Tip find your hardest & steepest climb & just do repeats....to TYTFU!!! Cause you're going to need it & will have to dig deep. Luckily for me I crashed last year after the half way mark & rode to the finish on pure adrenalin.

Have you done a sub 7 before? I am much stronger now than I was last time I timed myself. think my best to date is a 7.14 but conditions were perfect. My problem is the middle bit. The start is good and the end is ok just seem to have an issue about 25kms before the Spur stop. That one downhill just before the water point is absolute madness. I run it every year and see guys almost kill themselves there.

Personally I feel it's all in how well within yourself you ride up until the Spur table.

I shouldn't have had those two spur burgers :cursing: , I would have easily broken 10 hours

I owe my good ride to a good mate.

First for convincing me to go and secondly for all the valuable advice and input .

Anything of that invaluable advice you'd like to share with a novice?
