Damn not good such a pleasant guy, remember him giving us all a history lesson as we walked over the wagon trails at Epic in 2011 (I only happened to be near him because he was riding with his wife!)

Hope he's OK and heals up well!

Hope you heal soon.....

and this is another excample where the taxis do what they want and as long as we allow it , it will not stop

how many people just look away when taxis do that?

Heck this is bad....hope he heals up soon.

Another problem that seems to be flaring up with motorists is they feel we should not be training on the roads. This was evident with residents having issues with the Velo club rides going out on Boschkop

what happened to Johan almost happened to me when i was cycling along Allandale towards Kempton Park (especially after R101). Bloody taxi drivers make my blood boil! And our useless government is doing nothing about it!

Speedy recovery Johan.

the problem with the Velo club, I am a member and I ride with them every week, is that some of the guys ride like idiots.. on the way out its fine, but on the way back we hit peak morning traffic, the guys are ridding 2 abreast down graham (which becomes Lynwood) there is hardly space for single cars to pass each other...n I have seen MANY close shaves, its a matter of time... we aren't blameless!

Disclaimer: I am not saying Johan was at all in the wrong, I am referring to the specific comment re the Velo club.

That attitude really bugs me and I don't think that SuperSport campaign a few months back helped the attitude. South Africans like to see themselves as outdoors people who can handle any kind of challenge, even if they haven't rolled off the couch for six months. We should be campaigning around the fact that if we want to be the fittest, most outdoorsish, handle-anything country in the world then we should encourage and make space for anyone furthering that pursuit, change the attitude from an 'us vs them' perspective to a collective ownership so that drivers see cyclists, runners or anyone doing something outdoors as representing their ideals in a certain way.
