Will new chips be necessary for this new timing system by about2time?

I've seen some discussion somewhere.

I roll with my yellow pigeon tag from Racetec.

If so, will this be the new standard for 2014?

As far as i understand league events you will need the new chip PPA event you will need Racetec chip, so if a PPA event is part of the league then you will need to ride with both chips (unless you don't want a time on Racetec)...but i might have read some other posts incorrectly.

You are correct in what you are saying in your post. We have a couple of races planned for 2014 for which we will use about2time as our timing company.

Will this count for your ppa seeding?

This is not a PPA event and therfore it would not count towards your PPA seeding.

You also need a 2time chip to be timed.

How sure are you about that? I'm certain it will count for your PPA seeding. The 2time chip only for league riders AFAIK

I will be there, gonna strap both chips on, all this extra weight :P

Going to start with the league riders as had a good Burger and finished with the leading ladies, so I think the time has come to try league.

I have taken part in the scratch races at Killarney, will the pace be that intense for all 88km ?

Thanks

Is buying this timing chip necessary if I want to do this funride on my mtb? I have Strava for my timing purposes...

From their website: If you do not own an About2Time timing chip you should purchase one for R50 if you would like an official time and a completion photo.
