Something interesting I came across for my fellow Giant dropper post owners. This post can be run with the cable in stealth mode as well. Great news for me whooohooooo

But how do you tell if you have the correct version that can be run internally. Mine came standard with my 2013 Trance 29er. Just picked up a mates new Trance for him and the internal cabling is a winner!

Yip all the new Giant droppers can go stealth.

Unfortunately not the original one like I have. The new ones can be told by the black telescope.

Shame my frame isn't Stealth.. hold on where is that drill? ;)

Anyone want to swap a stealth Reverb for a non-stealth Reverb?

How easy is it to remove and then later re install a Reverb Stealth?

Apparently if it has this "Connectamajig" you can disconnect and reconnect it again a few times without needing to bleed it.

Not sure if my Reverb have this "Connectamajig" as it came OEM with the bicycle.

I'm doing a 200 km ride this Saturday on terrain I don't need it and I would like to:

a) Save about 500 - gram in weight of the Reverb.

And

b) I want to fit a water bottle cage to the seat post, so that I can carry two water bottles, so that I can get the Camel-back of my back.

Is it worth the effort? Or must I stop being a sissy and H.T.F.U.?

All Reverb Stealth droppers come with the coupler, and it's a pretty simple procedure to uninstall / reinstall, unless you have 10 thumbs.

The cup of cement is far simpler though.

I have the older Giant dropper - the first one failed but the warranty replacement has performed perfectly for about 9 months. If you route the cable or hose cleverly on any dropper it should not cause any problems.

I could not ride a bike without a dropper - I vary the seat many times a ride...

Thanks Droo, your input is always valuable.

I reckon you've answered your own question.

Also consider that your normal seatpost also weighs "something"

Yip the seat post does weigh something, as well as the 850 gram bottle with drink I want to put on it.

But I do get to take the 2.5 kg Camel-back of my back. Think that is going the spare my arms and back more on grinding the distance, than the weight saved by taking off the Reverb.

I'm not decided yet, so Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

I am in the market to buy a non stealth reverb if the price is right :whistling:

I say if it's a training ride, take the camel back, keep dropper, and maybe add a sandbag. Then when you race, take it all off. :P

This is the Race/Charity ride. . . . .

I did the training with the Dropper, Camel-back and heavy tires. (and suffered like a pig  )

Now I have to "optimize" . . . . the rest of my Team is "fresh from the Epic" I'm not....

My Spez stealth dropper is losing Hydraulic pressure or something (ie when it was new it used to elevate back with venom and now it comes back very slowly. Is it because it has grit inside the post or do they lose pressure?/ Any DIY guys out there any advice will be appreciated
