Chain Lube Racing

NEW PRODUCT

Castrol Chain Lube Racing is an advanced fully synthetic motorcycle chain lubricant that sets a new standard in chain lubrication.

It has been developed to combat corrosion by means of chemical

action and to resist fling off and water wash out, leaving a uniform

layer to protect from aggressive agents.

Features

  • Suitable for standard, O-ring and X-ring chains
  • Forms a long lasting, dry-type semi-transparent lubricating film with outstanding resistance to high speed fling and water wash-off
  • Low friction coating for reduced operating temperature and
    prolonged chain life.
  • Superior protection against metal corrosion resulting from exposure to humidity and salt.

Motorex dry lube. I find that it is just enough of a dry lube for dusty rides, but has enough oil in it to lube the chain as well without making it overly dirty.

Havent been able to find Motorex for a while... anyone spotted any in Joburg lately?

What does lubing your chain the night before achieve?

I always apply a little bit of lube onto the entire inside length of the chain right before I ride, have never had any issue with that nor see any reason why the lube needs to soak into the chain, after 100m of riding the lube is spread nicely all over the chain linkages better than any overnight standing lube job will do, unless you are submerging the entire chain overnight which you obviously are not if you are using expensive bike specific lube and even if you did I can't see a huge advantage never mind the inconvenience of the mess.

Been using Purple Extreme for a while - lasts quite long, doesn't attract too much dust and don't need to reapply too often, especially on road bike.

That Castrol motorbike lube sounds like it would do a good job - will try that when PE runs out...in a few months!

I think lubing the chain the night before is more for the wax based lubes? It has more time to creep into the links and dry?
