OK so Berge en Dale done and dusted. I have never done R4S. Any tips and precautions? How do times compare with Willro / Berge en Dale . How much of a predictor is it for the Argus?

Both times I've done the Argus my R4S times were almost the same as the Argus times.

  • 2007 - 3:12:58 (R4S) and 3:14:38 (Argus)
  • 2008 - 2:53:52 (R4S) and 2:54:47 (Argus)

If that helps answer your question.

looking forward to this one. Was a big noob last year when i did this, 2nd 50 km was a sufferfest.

My r4s last year was about 6 min slower than berge & dale.

Berge & dale : 3:25, R4S 3:31

Is that about the average?

The Queen of the East Rand Classics :-)

For everyone, yes - except the Elites & U23's.

The Carnival City Macsteel National Classic is 160Km, albeit mostly flat.

Add some wind to the equation and the flat roads don't matter anymore.

Yeah, my R4S and Argus times were within a minute of each other last year.
