Hi,

I am looking at getting a decent tool kit to do most of my own servicing and repair work, can anybody suggest a decent kit and where to get one for about R600 to R1000?

Thanks

These are good enough. Add something to put your total over a R1000 and you get free postage.

If you have absolutely no tools, then those might work.

If you already have some tools you are going to get double of what you already have.

Tools in that price bracket is normally a bunch of allen keys, chain whip and cassette remover.

You will need cable cutters, bb remover and a couple of other tools that is better to buy separate as and when you need them for that specific job.

Thats the way I built up my workshop! ;)

Buy some decent basic tools and the specialist bike ones as you need them.

I would recommend this Allen Key set, note the 'ball' ends on the long side, very handy

Also get a similar Torx set

Then you will also need chain wip, cassette tool, BB tools (depends on what type), spanner set, decent mallet, and a mullet in you are in the East Rand,

,

Handy but not as hand friendly as the Parktool allen key set.

They also have the ball ends to allow you to work at otherwise difficult angles.

You have way more leverage with that handle and you dont feel manhandled when finished working with them!

:D

But the Stanley set also pack away nicely, I keep my most of my tools sorted in flat Tupaware containers for easy storage. I have a set like the Park Tools but they are still in the packing box, but my 'workshop' is virtual.

The Parktool kit comes with a wallmount holder (that is an actual photo of my own I posted earlier).

Allen keys I always keep within reach ... not stored away anywhere ;)

Yes Tankman Parktool kit if kool, and its handy to have them all lined up and ready for action, my point is really for the DIY bike maintenance beginner no need to over capitalise and get fancy Pro tools, basic but decent quality tool sets that you can get at Builders, Makro etc will do fine,

That parktool PH1 hex key set set lists on CRC at R900+ (ex VAT) thats about the OP's entire budget
