Should work - but don't confuse the CSA membership with a RACING licence.

The RACING licence requirement is only for Elites, VA, VB, VC, Juniors, etc.

Edit: if your mate is starting any time from 6:20 onwards then you only need the barcode letter.

Yup, VA. Thanks man.

Don't think so, a lot of funriders seeded there (including myself), no mention about racing license in any communication I have received from organisers

Go straight to the "special numbers" line to collect the VA number (look out for the CSA officials), and I'm sure they'll do your number at the same time.

Their new barcoding system is a mess. When we went there were no queues this morning and we waited almost 10 minutes for the guys the scan 2x barcodes with the tablets, no proper scanner attached so they must focus the barcode first using the camera before the system picks up the entry...The guy next to us' barcode didn't work and he waited for 30 minutes to get it resolved, remember there was with no queues....Then once they collect your race pack and number they scan the envelope with the same barcode AGAIN using their low budget way of scanning barcodes.

Tomorrow and Saturday will be a mess if they don't go back using the old method!!!

Be warned!

Have to concur..... how is it with modern tech and loads of helpers all nicely spread out I still stand 30 minutes in a queue and I reckon I got lucky

My tweet at about 9:30 ....

So I'm 2 people from the front of the row @momentum947 and been waiting 15min, faster really?

Scanning in these bar codes must be their way of controlling stock theft of all the awesomeness that is in the goodie bags. I reckon those flyers for the Steyn city development must be worth about R100 each on the open market.....

****!! I Hope they have this sorted out by Saturday.

From the people that have been there, what exactly is causing the problem, the scanning of the bar codes? At the mtb number collection it seemed to work fine, they even scanned a bar code from my phone screen without any issues.

Hopefully it was just because it was early on the first day and everyone was still getting familiar with what happens ....

I hope so too.... otherwise there will be much frustration and gnashing of teeth

Just got back from picking up my number. Think they dropped the whole scanning idea. Lady just looked at the paper and went to get my number and race pack. Only problem was that people in the queue want to get more than one number that can range from A to ZZ. That seems make the wait long. When the guy with the long wish list finally were gone, it went quickly. From the time I gave my print out till I got my race number was 30 seconds.

Edit: Spelling.... Ek is afrikaans OK!

I had to pick up 4 numbers and it took a while. The scanning is not the issue. Every now and again the wifi/network drops and then the whole process stops. They're using a Web-based system to record who has collected their race packs.

I actually thought it was a clever process. It was just spoilt by our African connectivity.
