They were in Hout Bay to ride with the Hout Bay Cycling Club www.HoutBayCyclingClub.com in coordination with our sponsor Laureus Sport for Good and to film a documentary for Spanish TV on the charitable work being done by Laureus. We take responsibility as we did not fully brief them on the rules of the road. However we did tell them to ride single file at a stop on Chapman’s Peak Road a little later on. Something like this, "Hey guys, sorry but unlike the civilized world cyclists in SA are hunted by cars/taxis, have no rights, cars have no idea how to pass cyclists and if you are run over by a car/taxi the criminal will not go to jail or even get arrested. Oh and please dont hit any car drivers in the face with your front tyres, motorists and the public in general really dont like that and you may get arrested, VISA's removed, banned from Cape Epic or worse, the Argus!"
