Do you ride a 26er?

With regards to the 26" spares getting harder to source. About three years back on the Sabie I stopped next to a guy with a puncture to offer a spare tube - he had a 29ner and I can remember thinking "sucker" at that time whilst putting away my unused spare - today you might struggle to get a 26" tube during a race.

That's not an issue in either direction.

 

a 26" tube can fit stretch to fit a 29er and a 29" tube can be used with a 26" tyre, yes there'll be a spot where the tube bunches/folds over itself. but once there's air in the tube, it'll expand as far as the tyre will let it.

(although 3 of those are bikes where there is either no 29er equivalent, or it would just be a horrible idea. ie. Trials bike, 4X/Jump bike, and DH bike)
