Feeling ripped off by Cycle lab fourways

No Racing Snake

Recommended Posts

Everyone seems to be bragging about mileage on their tyre 3000-5000-6400km, I unfortunately had a sharp stone puncture the back (after about 400km on a new bike) which took 2 plugs to seal and decided to just keep riding it but Sunday at NF (after 600km) had a side wall pinch which rendered the front gone as well , so off to get some quotes finally settled on Maxxis Cross marks (i'm no racing snake) and start to look for the best price , I finally speak to Cycle lab (where I bought the bike) and they quote R649 so I say I'll go to Solomon's as they at R549 (and R50 to fit) ! " No problem we will match bring the bike in now if you want it for Friday" which I quickly arrange with the wife , later that afternoon I get a call from the workshop, "sorry we don't have Maxxis but we can put on GEAX at R799 " . After much back and forth they find a Maxxis for back tyre and then say its R619 until I remind them they already quoted R549 and tell them they should supply the Geax at that price since I have brought the bike in already . Sorry no can do but we will do the Geax at R699 , finally collect bike but invoice still at full price , call the guys to arrange a price change then see labour R85 to fit a tyre + labour R30 to add sealant , I query and show that they charge for sealant further down " oh no that's labour to put the sealant in " so R115 to fit tyre (excl sealant)... surely the price of changing a tubeless tyre includes adding sealant and pumping it up... didn't check but do they charge twice to fit a tubed tyre once for tyre and once for tube. Admittedly when I expressed I was unhappy and wouldn't be back again but would rather go a little further to Solomon's the salesman's asked what can they give me on the house .. "nothing , I don't want anything free ,just treat me fairly from the beginning and don't mess me around" ....Very irritated. :cursing:

That's bs of note!!!

Fitting a tubeless tyre must include putting the sealant in at the same time, wtf.

Wasn't this the same bunch everyone was raving about just after they opened? Or is that the other mega store?

agreed ,I don't see what a hubbers number of posts has to do with **** service from a shop that isn't the first time has had complaints. It's clear that cycle lab fourways did not do what they agreed to do and that was match the price. Simple as that.

The quote should include all works that needs to be done and be clearly stated then no unhappiness would come when the customer receives the invoice.

Would the R50 fitting cost at Solomons have included sealant?

i wonder if the OP will return and make a valuable contribution to the forum sometime in the future or will the racing snake be a one post wonder.

I seriously think admin must implement a minimum post count to allow people to post in rant 'n rave

I must say I wasn't impressed by the CL megastore the only time I went in there.

I wanted:

Shimano Hydraulic Oil.

Shimano Adaptor (Spacer) for 180mm front rotor direct mount.

Shimano Bleeding Kit.

I searched the place. Nothing. I stood with my best "I'm helpless look" on. Waited a few minutes to be helped.

Salesman didn't know what any of the items were so he fetched a guy from the workshop. Workshop guy brought me several post mount to direct mount adaptors and asked which one was right. Well none of them.

0 for 3. A bit disappointing really. When I asked why they didn't stock these items the answer was "all our customers bring their bikes in for servicing".

Granted these are not everyday items but c'mon - you're a "MEGASTORE".

Cajees round the corner knew exactly what I wanted and handed me all 3 items in under 5 mins.
