Finally got around to finishing the top end rebuild. Looking and sounding good with the new Bosson expansion but fuelling is all over the place.

Will fiddle with the jetting I suppose. Cant wait to hit a track now

Balanced the crank last night. Luckily it wasn't too far out - only a couple of grams!

I am hoping to get the LC4 engine back this weekend or early next week. I just hope I can remember where all the bolts and plugs go 

 

Then I need to find some Zumas to do the paint....

Out of interest, how do you compensate for the inbalance?

File down the opposite end slightly and keep measuring???

Usually we just drill small holes in the crank to remove weight, and then if we need to add again, we tap the hole and either screw in a stud with Loctite, or melt in some lead.

 

We can only do static balancing - but with these old bikes that's usually more than enough.

 

For the more hi-revving engines you really need to send them to a specialist.

I'm also into my motorcycles (actually more so than my cycling) and I'm fortunate enough to have a few but none of them move my soul like this toy does. I just love the versatility of my 690.
