I am hoping to get the LC4 engine back this weekend or early next week. I just hope I can remember where all the bolts and plugs go  :w00t:

Then I need to find some Zumas to do the paint....

@andymann. Have not seen a yankee screwdriver for a while. Brings back memories of my apprenticeship

Yea those things. You only ever steady the bit with your fingers once in your life.....

Yeah, and flat bits and metal splinters, that's what I remember.

Usually we just drill small holes in the crank to remove weight, and then if we need to add again, we tap the hole and either screw in a stud with Loctite, or melt in some lead.

We can only do static balancing - but with these old bikes that's usually more than enough.

For the more hi-revving engines you really need to send them to a specialist.

"Robert M. Pirsig, Author of ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance,’ Dies at 88".

Sad news. Read his book when I was probably too young, because I didn't follow all of it, but knew I was reading something important.
