So for his 17th birthday I gave my son my credit card to buy himself a helmet, must say, he did fairly well. Accept that a gave him a R1500 limit and he bought a R2100 lid but got R100 discount because it's his birthday. It even has a sunvisor that shifts out of the helmet.dab220c74194e479fbd66091989ffb90.jpg9e6854102365f096e3f4a7e8c9d82fde.jpg6cb2dd04d5fb33a07cccf57d94423e4c.jpg7f65a2f0865b8a15a106c3276c5bc19e.jpg02cdc615aa98fdbac630b910984d02fe.jpgd8195580f2c91bdcc6c6d453d1fc02ba.jpg

I've had the opportunity to take the 350 version with the full fairing for a spin way back in the 90s and it was as fast as heck.

Looks like a lot of helmet for the money. Good value.

Regarding my wife learning to ride, I have the opportunity to buy back my sons original NXR 125, the forerunner to your lads XR 125.

It still only has 1970 kms on, a +/- 2006 model! I am thinking hard about this, a great learner bike!

Yes they are basically the same and for a learner rider I think it is a great beginner bike, light and handles easy. Yes that's a awesome helmet for the price, all the little extras is a real nice to have.

My wife is learning to ride on the 390Duke, unfortunately failed the license. In my case I was lucky in anticipating she would want to do it so bought the 390 rather than the 690 as it would’ve been a bit much for her, especially given short legs.

Apparently misunderstood where she should ride and went wrong way, when she stopped and reversed she failed for rolling backwards.

But will try again and then we can do runs together [emoji41]

Also good for when the bike invariably gets dropped the prerequisite amount of times, small bikes don't fall quite as hard, easy to lift and much cheaper to repair.

First time I let my mate have a try on the Xt200 I had at the time he pulls off straight into a wheely falls off and we watch the bike slither off down the hill on its side, luckily only torn seat and smashed indicators/mirrors, the joy.

My rule of thumb which I learnt early on when I tried to replace the Visor on my first Lafe, and then the peak on my MX version is when I buy a new helmet, I insist they must either have a spare visor for me to buy, or be able to get one for me before I do the deal - most of the time the Visor gets scratched to pieces in a few months, and then when you go back, you can't get spares which makes the helmet pretty much useless if you cant see clearly anymore.  A good importer will have stock of wear parts like peaks, hinges and visors.

We've got exactly that situation with my wife's TT helmet - a really nice CASCO which has a scratched visor which had subsequently been discontinued.

I do the same with goggles. Fox goggles good price but battled to find lenses. I use 100% now. First question was do you have spare lenses and they had in stock [emoji106]

It's my birthday later in the month, can I also get your credit card? Don't mind the same limit

Regarding that KR rep 350.

Oke in Cape Town that is doing nuts & bolts rebuilds of them. Selling them for between R120 000.00 to R150 000.00 a bike.

Beaut.....

Would multiple like this if I could. I do the 1980 RD “Elsie” but after making enquiries to import one I am finding this dream is slipping away. Pretty costly.

They are going for crazy money yes. Holding on to mine as an investment for sure!!!!

It is looking more and more like I might need to sell a Yamaha TRX850 to buy a more lady friendly (lighter and lower) bike, or possibly find somebody willing to trade perhaps.

Breaks my heart though.....
