Quadruple like!

Not many new Husky 450 Rallies floating around. Most of the 2019/2020 bikes I've seen come in the orange frame option.

What does one of those puppies set one back? R450k?

We have 2 here at SRG, both sold. If you could get, which you can't, price would be north of R550k.

Here's a nice feel-good story.  Back in around 2007-ish one of my Dad's mates knew I worked at Yamaha and mentioned that he had an old Yamaha 50 lying in his garage - asked me if I didn't want it as he had no use for it.  I was quite excited because i was thinking RZ or DT, but when I went to collect it, it was an old FS1-E which didn't really blow my hair back.  it was also pretty ropey so I knew I was never going to finish it.  Long story short, I gave it to one of the Yamaha dealers in the Free State because they had a bit of a museum, and were looking for one.

Yesterday I got a random email from that dealer - says to me he heard I have some DT's and they are clearing out a whole bunch of New old-stock parts - he's kept all the DT125 and DT200 parts to one side, and I am welcome to them if I want - i just need to collect them.  Apparently there is a complete DT/WR carb, as well as some discontinued plastics and a few body parts.  I'm super stoked!

Couple of ole toppies in my town each have an FS1 and both are in pristine condition. Every now and again I see them on a sunday morning at a biker stop here. will take pics next time and post.

Those FS1 bikes have appreciated in value a whole bunch. Howie has one , think he paid 30k for it. Kurt had one in his shop which he wanted 35k for at some point. iirc.

Look at prices here

That's a big score, Andymann.

Ja, those old "Fizzies" was the bees knees back then.

Buddy of mine had a "hand me down" from his bigger brothers. It was a true Rat Bike. Whenever he arrived at school with the bike in a different color, we knew he had an off, sommer used enamel paint and a brush to paint it.

Can't the man in the street get one of these beasts because of the limited production run or because only sponsored riders are eligible to buy the Huskies?

I know KTM said 70 bikes per yr (and they sell out like hot-cakes). Does that 70 include the Huskies or is there another small batch of those?

I guess either way I'm in no position to shell out 550 large ones on a bike

Here's an option for those of us that will never be able to afford (or handle) a full blown rally bike...

The 2020 Husqvarna 701 LR (Long Range)

2020-Husqvarna-701-Enduro-LR-900x583.jpg

Husqvarna_701_ENDURO_3_560.jpg

  • 155kg (dry), it's 10kg heavier than the standard FE 701.
  • 12L Front tank + 13L rear rank.
  • Bar mounted tank selector
  • approx 1000 EUR more than standard FE 701
  • LR kits available to convert standard FE 701
Overall it should make a good platform for a medium-sized adventure bike. It addresses the fuel range issues the current 701's have (with only the 13L rear tank). Aftermarket kits were available, but they're either ugly as hell (the bikers warehouse version), small (5L like the rade garage version), or crazy expensive (like the Omega rally kit. My favourite opion but at over R100k, yikes!).

So there are 80 rally bikes made, of which 18 are the Husky's. That includes allocation for the factory teams. So what ever is left is pre-sold before they are even manufactured.
