The wife is off in PE preparing for IM, so I managed to get a bit more work done on the DT. Don't you dare mention I had bike parts in the dishwasher....

After much discussing with my mate over a beer, I have decided, stuff it, lets go the whole hog and remove the swingarm and have it powder-coated too. Luckily someone has treated the bike to new suspension bearings and links recently, so that was a luck. I'll probably send the shock to Hilton Hayward too - just for a service.

I suppose the next step now would be the frame......problem is, the frame still has the original Yamaha Frame number sticker on the headstock, and if I have the frame powder-coated, they are going to have to blast that off....

Regarding powder-coating, I normally use JG, but the last few times the finish hasn't been that great - and it's a mission to get from KGDP (where I work) or PTA (where the bike is) to Germiston. So can anyone recommend someone closer, who specialises in Cosmetic finishes?

Did some more work ion the DT this weekend - decided to go the whole rebuild route.....

Off to the powdercoaters we go this week, and hopefully we can get some stuff back together soon...

Good idea that.

And my current rave....... Thruxton with modified Arrow exhaust for R104K

How cool this would be with twin front discs, even if unnecessary!

Had a MBX, petrol down the small end and woof

My buddy had an MBX 50 which I wheelied into a wall for him one day  :whistling:

I used to do this with my MTX 50 and YZ 125.  Never had a whoosh of woof - just a gradual burning flame.  I was always hoping for a nice BANG!  Or at least some kind of minor injury or something...

The pipe on the DT is a double-skinned thing with a whole bunch of sound-deadening material between the two walls. I plugged the one end and poured all my old cleaning petrol/oil mixture down the pipe and let it soak for a few days. By the time I was ready to chuck it in the fire all the petrol had been absorbed, and the rest had probably evaporated. It burned for a good few hours after that! Every now and again I would pump some compressed air down one of the ends and got the thing glowing a nice cherry red colour! I doubt if anything survived that.....

I took delivery of 1 & 3/4 1984 XR200R's a few weeks ago. One almost complete bar a side cover and a silencer. The second one mostly in a Big Jim box....

Tear down started this weekend. Not sure what direction to head in just yet but it looks like I'm leaning towards a resto project. Time (and available funds ;)  ) will tell....

You're going to hate me - I raced an XR200 in the '80's - the black seat/white side cover model - '82/83 I think. Had an original factory Honda rebuild manual which I kept for years and years and years until last year when I had a general clean up and thought "....nah, no-one will ever need this ever......"
