Decided not to do this race! The new route is going to be a nightmare on the N14. The road is narrow with a lot of trucks and traffic especially on a Sunday! AND R300! I love road races but this is becoming more about profit than the safety en enjoyment of road cycling!

You cant say that , people dont like you to complain about the price(lol)... We ride that route fairly often(as a club), been okay ... in spite of being narrow. Selfish drivers will always be an issue sadly

Really does look like road racing is dying a very rapid death - entries extended until 31 August - which probably means that there were not as many entries as anticipated before last night's deadline ...

I entered this morning 1 Sep. Entries still open....

A dangerous start (neutralised downhill, yeah right), then fast and flat, with a bump or two at the end.

The D2D has lost it's teeth, it's now a ride for the limp, lazy and unfit.

Thank you god.

Haha only joking.

I must admit, I'm disappointed with the route change. Last years ride was the first and only time since that I've really had to go out and plead with the Man with the Hammer. It was a ride that broke me in so many ways. But, it made me certain I loved riding. It made me feel fragile, alive. And powerful. The fact that I could vocally tell my legs to shut the hell up, I'm stronger than me.

Now, it'll just be another ride I guess.

I'll miss the old route.

No such thing as an easy race.

If it was easy, you didn't race.

I always wonder about the comments of a flat race being easy. More often than not, there is less chance for recovery, as there are no down hills. If you are not hammered at the end of the race you took it easy, and it should be assumed that you were at the front of the bunch helping with the work.
