How do you avoid getting sick?

Since the public holiday in August I have been sick 4 times 3 of which required antibiotics and the current one has got me in hospital with pneumonia..

I drink my vitamins in the mornings, keep healthy eating habits, try to avoid the sudden temperature changes when training(super hot and sweaty to ice cold). In general I live relatively healthy yet I’m forced off the bike at least 2 times a year due to sickness and this year the worst at around 6 times.

Granted the last 3 times stress may have been a big factor, I have started meditating to keep my stress levels normal.

I’m legit just gatvol for flu and antibiotics.

Get off all the vitamins, except slow mag. Get your vitamins through eating properly, I found that cutting sugar out made a massive change, havent been sick since.

I take a vit C supplement and centrum.

I can’t afford to change my diet to eat better than I currently do. It is literally as good as what my budget allows for now.

Sugar is already quite low, I’m not keen on cutting it out completely, but I drink half a teaspoon in a cup of coffee/tea and mostly avoid sweets and stuff. Maybe once a week I’ll cheat to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Your mileage may vary, but since my wife was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in April, I've upped our probiotic intake significantly. I think all of the 9-strain ones are pretty much the same, the Biogen one is the cheapest one. Plus I've taken to preparing water kefir, flavoured with rooibos tea.

Whether it is luck, placebo effect, or actually working, I don't care - since I've known her, she would have bronchitis or pneumonia at least once a year, but usually more than once. Since April she had one slight cold, and it didn't go into her lungs.

I’ll look into biogens probiotics, thanks.

I’ve heard of the kefir thing, where can I get the water one?

My neighbor had the one you prep in milk, but it’s super disgusting.

Yeah, I've got the milk kefir too, but I'm still struggling with getting it flavoured so that I can actually enjoy it. My wife plainly refuses.

You can get the starter kit (kefir grains) at a number of places, if you are willing to make it yourself. I got mine at CraftyCultures. Then in the second stage I flavour it with whichever flavoured rooibos tea.

Thanks dude!

I’ll see if I can buy a kit in December.

Barring extreme bad luck . . . looks like I'm going to make the end of 2017 having had only one cold this year!

Switched all my vits into daily smoothie.

Spinach, various berries, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed and juice.  Sometimes beetroot, sometimes vegetable or apple.

Working so far......

I juice daily, Apple, celery, carrot, ginger!

Works like a bomb and stops me from snacking on junk!

Same here, smoothies can be game changers for your health. Took me a while to get used to the veggy ones, but its my favorite now. And since I started with healthy smoothies I dont crave any sugar whatsoever.

Had a slight cold yesterday and today. Stayed of the bike. Just took my daughter for a walk. Started using Cancerbush tea at night. It is as bitter as hell but I mix it with rooibos tea. Makes it semi drinkable. Always use to go directly to my chest. Seems to be working as I already feel better tonight.
