No Daryl Impey for Tour de France - Positive Test Result

The test was done in early Feb, what did they look at the result for 4 months not knowing what to do next ...? The person that passed on was an assistant, its not as if the whole lab burned down.

Will the delay and possible administrative bungles have any bearing on the positive finding as such?

Possibly. Daryl was careful not to criticise the local testing procedures when he was on radio yesterday, but did say that he was consulting lawyers and experts to see if this angle could be tackled.

Thank you bennie.....1 day....2 weeks...4 years...doesnt change the fact. It might actually be better for them to take their time and be thorough than do a botch job.

What about his comments about the common wealth games...he was quite vocal about his disappointment. Strange considering this sword has been over his head since Feb...

Ja, but he's only known about the positive since last week.

ah my bad then....so they didn't inform him after the first test then and his B sample was then tested after the common wealth games announcements.

He learnt of the A sample positive last Monday - after the Commonwealth announcement - and then the B sample was tested last Friday.

Thanks Tumbles...thought he knew about his A since Feb. So makes sense to me know.

Yes, there are numerous cases out there. It's a tedious journey, though…unless you're a Spanish cyclist.

On which basis could you win a case...just curious here. I mean if you look at the reality you cannot argue the procedure or test. Your A and B says you had the **** in your system at that point in time tested in controlled lab conditions.

What possible angles could you use since ignorance wont cut it either aka I dont know my steri stumpy had clen in or that the karoo tjops had a sprinkle of winstrol.

So in less than a week the B sample was tested and the results were made available; the question still remains, why did the A sample take so long?

What difference does all this make (issues about why it took so long etc....).

It's his sample - tick

Both samples + tick

Even more damning it's a substance that could not have been consumed by mistake like the famous (unbelievable) contador Clenbuterol issue.

Sad to say but DI now joins the same pile as all the other dopers.

What am I missing here. If Forensics takes a year to get prints matched, DNA done etc. the evidence will still stand - no? Surely the only issue could be storage and handling and I am sure that will be tested. SARS can nail you for years, why not doping agency?

That's pretty much the avenue he has left. I got bust for drunken driving about 10 years back. The first thing a lawyer will do is look at the lab report to make sure if all the i's at dotted and the t's crossed. Think back to the Judge Motata trial. There were serious concerns raised about the lab's ability - temperatures at which the samples were handled, where they were stored, possibly kinks in chain of evidence, etc.
