have also bough many items from sellers with zero posts at good prices and have yet to have anything but good dealings. Often zero posters are lurking on the hub reading, but just not posting.... does not make them any less of the community... they are here and they have their reasons.

I have no problem dealing with a zero post seller, I develop the communication through the PM's and you soon see if there are likely issues.

You also see the dodgy deals if you buy and sell often and stay well clear of them... whether numerous posts or zero against the sellers name. Its the classifieds !!

nonsense. Take this chap, ChUkKels, or whatever, has 3379 posts, of which 3378 are nonsense posts, still I would not buy the last piece of bread on earth from him. It's all about who you deal with, and how they conduct business, not the amount of posts, because, like me, most of their posts might be rubbish and not contribute towards credibility.

Is that why nobody buy my stuff and I end up giving it away ?

Perhaps I'm being a little churlish, but it irks me somewhat that lately it seems we have quite a few people advertising on the hub who register solely for that purpose. Zero posts except for the item being advertised.

Would be nice if there was some sort of encouragement to engage with the community and not just use the platform as a free ads listing.

Were it my call I'd change the forum settings so you have to be a member for a week and/or have a number of posts before flogging your goods.

Thoughts?

Caution: This post was not well thought through.

I don't think it's fair requesting a minumum post count before one can post in classifieds, or being a member for while. You can't just force everyone to take part in the mostly useless drivel which is the hub. Lots of cyclists out there are not interested taking part in the internet-forum paraphernalia, but still has something of (literal) value to offer and is aware that Scumtree is dodgy at the best of times.

DISCLAIMER: I am only posting to gain posts in the event that a required minimum post count is introduced to be able to utilize the classifieds.

wont sell / buy anything to / from anyone with less than 1000 posts. Been flamed for this but sticking to it...serves me well thusfar.

Thats a bit extreme. I don't think I have that many,

Edit: I do.

I say 100 posts and I check out what they type. If they know what they saying and seem knowledgable then I will trust them a bit more.

maybe, but then again its my prerogative. After a thousand posts you can fairly judge someones character. Some okes are require less but a thousand seems to be a good benchmark for me.

I have been a member since March last year but only made 67 posts so far. I am on the hub however almost on a daily basis reading and learning from fellow cyclists.

I see myself as part of the hub community as much as the guy with thousands of posts and I would have felt the same even if I never made active posts.

Just because I am not always commenting on posts doesn't mean that I am less part of the community. I get equally upset when reading about hubbers getting mugged and professional cyclists being caught out for doping. I equally appreciate the Emily Batty photos and laugh at the not so hot dismounts in action. I feel sad with my fellow hubbers for going through tough times in their lives whatever the cause.

The point I am trying to make is that making a lot of posts or not should not determine your status on the hub or prevent you from using any of the other features on the hub.
