We don't all have "The Mountain" MH - us GP riders get our thrills by riding blind behind other riders ;-)

Don't forget the odd "switch" to keep things interesting.

If the course is easy enough to think about drafting, it's not mountain biking.

Drafting happens in all races. From the Epic to BCBR. It just depends on your skills and confidence to be able to draft in technical situations. post-5386-1405048452,9849.jpgmpost-5386-1405048479,8927.jpg

Go for the roadie approach.....start zig zagging, then sit up and wave them thru and finally tell them that its their turn now.

Agreed, dropping a wheel sucker is as much of a skill as drafting. Some sneaky sneaky russian maneuvers

Brake hard in corners....accelerate hard out of them

Brake in the bottom of a dip....accelerate hard for the first 50m on the proceeding bultjie

Gutter them if its a big group

This will rev their wheel sucking engine.

Had a tannie draft me in a race last year on a flat open road..... Until the rain made a trench that you could not see until too late, i was too busy trying jump my wheels over to stop myself crashing that i did not have time to warn her. The face plant behind me sounded interesting.

She passed me again later when i had a puncture, and she was OK and said she would think twice before drafting again. Very nice lady actually.

Do what you must, but be aware i am looking after myself before i think about you.

Drafting has aerodynamic advantages over speeds of 30 km/hr. If you find this is possible on MTB tracks, then go for it. In other slower cases, it could just be psychological. You can do it anywhere, but as Barney says, sharing is caring, do your bit at the front too.

You're more than welcome to sit behind me if you can, but I suffer from sinus issues, so don't be surprised at a little overspray from a snot rocket or 12...

Another sure way to get them suckers of your wheel.....good addition.
