yup, but I let plenty slide. In this instance it looks really bad as we all know you need to check your policy with a fine tooth comb before signing it. You'd expect the guys on the other side of the fence to be just a little bit meticulous (I know he was giving a post on a webpage but the attitude is the same).

but ja, there is a still a error in that sentence. I'm guessing that the OP is looking for more business(I'm fine with that) with this thread, but on a back foot with me just on that.

We really only put this information on the site to enlighten people of situations we have come across.

It appears that some individuals look past the message and caution. I hope that you never find yourself in a hijack situation especially if you have people you care about with you and they find themselves at the wrong end of the attackers gun, knife or worse.

It is not and never has been our policy to solicit business from the Hub. We only deal with brokers and as such dont deal with clients/public directly.

I find the information useful and much appreciated. Your comments towards andyman "The main line insurers also do not offer as comprehensive cover as a niche insurance provider." got my attention

I appreciate the intent.

Message received.

Thanx!

Keep on doing what you can to inform this forum, if possible.

I think you may have missed the point.

There was no point attacking someone who was making a valuable contribution and then carrying on about it afterwards.

When a client of an insurance company has log an insurance claim (an example: when a bike get stolen), insurance related claim data (such as: how the bike gets stolen, when it gets stolen) will obviously be recorded & kept on their side for processing purposes.

Management or BI (Business Intelligence) staff within the insurance firm will used such data for their internal reports. Content of a typical report will have pointers that the OP has shared on his first post.

No rocket science involved here.

No rocket science, but quite likely some hocus-pocus.

For BI to have any validity, there needs to be a robust sample. Is that the case here? That is a valid question. How many claims have been analysed to make these startling claims?

Also, the OP makes claims that can not come from a claims DB. For example makes some claims about bikes "being stolen to order".

How do they know it? Have they found and interviewed convicted bike thieves who have said so, if so how many, or is this anecdotal? This information is certainly not known at claim time.

Crime stats are an emotive issue and as the Institute for Security Studies and Africa Check have shown, dodgy statistics have become the marketer's good friend.

Saying, look after your expensive bike, don't ride alone in suspicious areas (particularly if you are female), don't leave your bike unattended in car parks or at bike races is all good advice.

Wheteher it is based on empirical statistically relelevant evidence is another story. Claiming that it does is dishonest.

2. Riding alone is when you at your most vunerable.Couples with a lady riding can become the victims of even worse crime. Need I say more

This really gives me the chills... :(

And I'll give ten points to the person who spots the forum member who was recently shafted by an insurance company because he didn't read the small print . . .
