Performance enhancing substances among amateurs

I don't know what the issue is with taking drugs while competing in events, considering what people are achieving.

When I was on drugs, I couldn't even find my bike.

An oldie but a goody.

Yippee... my "drug-free" packaging arrived this morning.

Considering I've been training/riding/racing on water since August, I'm hoping the sheriff is right and I can perform like an Elete.

I hear many stories and rumours amongst those I race with in competitive Vets.

Prevalence is high, I reckon.

The ego is one powerful force.

Beating others can be a powerful drive.

Did you get some Gerald .

I ordered last week, but I left work before it arrived on Friday. Was hoping to try it out on the weekend. Will give it a go on Sunday (on both laps).

It doesn't surprise me. That sector of the cycling population has an abundance of wealth and ego but frequently insufficient time to train so they strike me as the kind that would take shortcuts.

Not sure that kind of thing is much of a problem in womens cycling (heck - don't know when last I heard of any woman found guilty of doping).

One of the Kenyan female running athletes was fought doping a few days ago. There is plenty everywhere. I come from a fitness /bodybuilding background and have done a lot of studies on AAS and performance enhances. It seems to me most peoples understanding on steroids and what they do/how they effect you are based in what their moms told them or what they saw on an American football movie. 1000mg of test (huge amount ) without training would do zero to help your ride. In fact the muscle pump alone would feel like you have a cramp in every muscle on your first hill. HGH would help a lot with recovery as well as strength , while the increased power from test in small amounts(sub200mg) and increased red blood cells would help you quite a bit.

I have never used anything for cycling , but some people seem to think 1 quick jab and up ride like lance. This is very far from the truth.

Ehrm, the object of doping is to increase training loads and intensity so as to create higher gains for physical performance in competition. It does not mean you pop a pill and park off on the couch because you can now train less, the very opposite.

That said, it doesn't make the act any less unsavory.

Also don't forget that at that age, extra hormones begin helping exponentially more.

The guys in those groups are also SUPER competitive, and I thinks its more about winning than anything else.

I cant understand why an amateur would put themselves at that kind of risk.

What can the rewards be? bragging rights?

I suppose it would be in line with guys using steroids when they are wannabe bodybuilders.

We amateurs spend 1000's of rands on equipment and hours upon hours of training to do races with no rewards other than the thrill of doing well and a bit of bragging rights. Using drugs is just taking it one step further, I don't find it strange at all that some people would be tempted.

Start using it today, one bottle of water with the correct dosage will keep you well hydrated .

Any middle-aged cyclist who's REALLY desperate should FIRST go see a endocrinologist and have all the tests done.

Sometime, you can massively improve performance by simply getting all your levels balanced.

And, with middle age, the problem can be too much of something, e.g,. estrogen, as opposed to too little of something, e.g. testosterone...
