where's the name of the biased fool who wrote it?

I'm still a student and abviously not middle class if im sitting with R210 in the bank right now.

What about the young black kid that was in my group on sunday's 30km? He performed well and seemed dedicated- does the writer of this article condemn opportunities?

All this hot air for one day in the year? I suppose the same must be said for runners then - Comrades / Boston / New York etc... marathons. Then of course the Olympic Games etc… What an inconvenience! This is sweeping negativity. You are simply a to$$!

fortunately we in the Cape understand the value of having mass participation events and what the positive spin-offs there are for not only the tourism industry, but a stack of related industries as well.

Rather short sighted indeed! What about the fact that entirely due to this apparently useless race the organising team have had all the potholes en route filled properly? Does that not benefit all? And the money raised via those riding for charities? Hardly pocket change, last time I read the stats. And from the point of view of "inconveniencing millions" --> what's wrong with staying at home and having a braai? :)

I mailed a response to motoring@citizen.co.za.

Biggots like this have no place and need to see the bigger picture

Actually quite disappointing that an article / letter such as this gets published in the first place. Perhaps the editors of the Citizen should read the letters first and determine the consequences of publication, prior to actually publishing sh!t.......horse sh!t........elephant sh!t.........blue whale sh!t......

Isn't there a governing body for the press as well.  Something that says that they are not suppose to publish hate speech or something like that?

Years ago before I cycled I lived in Glencairn and on Argus day we were well and truly locked in.

I don't understand what the problem is.

The problem is that far too many South Africans have a me, myself, and I attitude.

Everything must go their way, or they throw a tantrum. Basically they are spoilt children in an adults body.

Forget about them, trying to reason with selfish idiots is just a waste of time.

I fully agree. The writer obviously forgot that it is a privilege to be a host to a world-class sporting event. And like when you invite guests over to your house, you should expect that there will be a cost involved to you (if you are a good host). In this instance there is also very sizable benefits to the hospitality and cycling industries in Gauteng to consider.

Do not think that there are idiots that complain about the cycle tour each year.

They mostly come from Fish Hoek and Noordhoek. I think if you chose to live there you have to stay there for a whole day once a year!
