The other post about a bike stolen did not even manage two thread pages, although it was stolen a few days ago. Wonder what MTB-BFK will regurgitate about this..........

I am not sure what your rights are if the suspect attempts to resist a citizens arrest.... you may of course try to arrest them again - repeatedly... The last time I tried that the suspect accidentally fell off the bike in the process and clipped his head on a lamp post - somewhat unfortunate that was - but I got my bike back - teach him to ride it past my house when we were standing outside.

Its easier to apologise than to ask for permission.... Besides, let the "unlawful" owner prove that he purchased it in good faith... Very unlikely, & sadly its costly to do things the right way in SA.

You're also allowed to make a citizen's arrest.

No matter what "level" of crime but any crime. Perhaps if he resists arrest, you have a justifiable reason to beat the s..t out of him...
