NixM Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Copperhead that is really crap, we have a similar situation with our company, we cannot get work from certain hospital groups, they say its because we don't have a BEE certificate. Some medical aids refuse to pay use for the same reason. But it actually has nothing to do with race. The BEE card is just being played because of an incestuous relationship between the hospital group, medical aid and a very large pathology company who have the monopoly. We loose hundreds of thousands of rands because of it. We are a very small company, the little guy will always come last. Eddy Gordo interpreted his been ignored to his apperance and skin colour. In the exact same way I have interpreted being ignored in bike shops to being a woman. I don't think he hates white people because of it and I certainly don't hate men because of it.

I knew what I wanted, took it off the display case, walked up to the checkout and left them the R295-00 for the spanner I need.Now this is a muslim company, and they know I am a Messianic Jew, but I don't care how they treat me. We treat each other with respect, we do our business and that is is. I am not there to get my ass licked every time. If I need help, I walk up to the guys working there, and wait for it.... I ask for help. As an tech who worked in sales, it is not easy to smell what people wants.If you shop in Pretoria, you will get the same treatment. But then again, i am white.Good luck OP, if the hubbers have you in their target they are not going to stop till you are bleeding on the ground, and maybe spray painted.

As far as smelling what people want, well then that is definately impossible!! The only way you will know is if you ask, so as a fellow sales assistant, greet, smile show interest and help the person
DIPSLICK Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 ive told this story a few times so sorry for repeating myself, for those who havent heard it its rather simplei have 3 bikes shops for different reasonshop 1 for buying complete bikes built the way i like it to be built, they sold me my first "real" bike and he treats me like its my first bike every time i buy a bike and they are super helpfull, if i need something quick they got stock and they make a plan if they dont have,,,the owner is a mean coffee lady aswell,,,also good attention to detailshop 2 because i consider the gent one of the last gentleman in the industry he helps with stuff he does not need to get involved and i get all my odds and bobs because he is close, also his w/shop knows i am full of dwang as far as details goshop 3 for the special orders and things most shops will tell you they cant be done long story short, ive tried other shops all shiiit service not because i always wear dirty shorts or dont look like a cyclist, or because i am whie just because most just have piss poor service and most have temp. "salesman" who can ride a bike and they think their pooo dont smell like mine AGAIN BUSINESS 101 IF YOU DONT LIKE THE SHOP FOR ANY REASON NOBODY IS HOLDING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD, FIND A GOOD LBS SUPPORT THEM AND YOU WILL BE TREATED WELL

He did not call white people racists yet everyone seems to be vilifying him for something he didn't say. I stated that he wondered if it was a factor in the bad service he received at some shops. I've seen racism in action at some shops. I was standing around in a certain store one dau and this Zulu gentlemen walks up to me and aks if a I work there. I said no but what is he looking for? We struck up conversation and it turns out he was a seasoned cyclist and was looking for a new bike. So we start talking about the bikes when a lightie who works in the store comes up to us and says that if we're not buying anything could we please leave because they don't want any trouble with stealing...*$^) We look at each other and walk out laughing. he gets into his ML500 and I into my GiT and drive off. They would have made sales to the value of about R150K but cos they were boxes they lost. Point bad service can be attributed to a lot of things. When nearly every bicycle shop save two in the western cape are owned by whites is moronic to argue that a white person is going to experience white on white racism in a bike shop. Ya its going to classism or the age old boer vs engelsman dinges. But when a person with more melanin experiences a cold shoulder in a store owned by white people then the first thought that springs to mind is not maybe its because you pulled up in a lesser car or not wearing the appropriate brand of clothing. Fact is racism exists. No one in this thread called anyone a racist despite a few people trying very hard to try and flush such accusations out. Hey Copperhead I'm sorry you lost your business, really. But you seem to be accusing people of colour for your failure as a business owner. Lots of people have lost their businesses since 2008. Weak economy does have that effect. Cyber bullying the oke for speaking his mind is a really poor attitude. I'll bet it was more that that lead to your business tanking rather than people of colour taking it from you.Well done you drive a GiT
